Warrant to Robert Russell to be Master of the Dumbarton-Castle

His Grace her Majesties high Commissioner and the Lords of her Majesties privy Councill, Doe hereby Warrant Impower and appoint yow Robert Russell to be Master of her Majesties Shipp, called the Dumbartoune Castle Willing and Requyreing yow to goe aboard the said Shipp and take upon yow the Charge as master of the said Shipp. Strictly Chargeing and Commanding all the inferior officers and Seamen belonging to the said Shipp to obey yow in their respective Stationes and Imployments with all due respect as master of the said Shipp and yow Likewayes to observe and execute all orders and instructiones That yow shall receive from your Captain or any of your Supperior officers from time to time wherin yow nor non of yow may faill as yow will answer the Contrary at your perrills; And for so doeing thir presents (Being recorded in the books of privy Councill and to continue untill recalled) Shall be your Sufficient warrant. Given at Holyruidhouse the Sixteinth day of July Jajvijc and thrie years Sic Subscribitur Seafeild Cancellar IpD.

Warrant In favors of James Midletoune to be master of the Royall Mary

Warrant for interring Corps of Mr William Hamilton in the Abbay Church

Her Grace her Majesties high Commissioner and the Lords of her Majesties privy Councill; Doe hereby Recommend to her Grace Anna Dutches of Hamiltone and in her absence gives order and warrand to John Hamiltone her Graces Baillie depute in the Abbay of Holyruidhouse to Suffer and permitt the body of Mr William Hamiltone of Baldoon Sone to the deceast Lord Bassil Hamiltone to be interred within the abbay Church of Holyruidhouse; Notwithstanding the Samen be declared her Majesties Chappell For which this shall be to all concerned ane sufficient Warrant.

Warrant to the two Captains of the Scots Friggots to Levie Seamen

His Grace her Majesties high Commissioner and the Lords of her Majesties privy Councill Haveing heard a Representation made to them by the Lord high Chancelor That the Captains of her Majesties two Friggotts formerly appointed to be outtrigged for defending the Coasts against pirrating Hade dificultie in Engadging Seamen aboard the said Friggotts, His Grace and the saids Lords of her Majesties privy Councill Ordaines the Magistrates of the respective burghs and Sea-port tounes within this kingdome Or any other persones having warrand from the saids Captains of the said two friggots to Beat drums within the respective bounds of the said burghes and Sea-port tounes; For intimating to all able Seamen who by their oun free Consent given before a Magistrat are willing to serve aboard her Majesties saids two Friggotts; That they repair to the saids two Captaines and their offer themselves to them or either of them; And ordaines all Magistrates and others within the burghs and Sea port-tounes forsaid to give all due encouradgment to the saids two Captaines and others Imployed by them in Leaveing Seamen as above And prohibites and discharges any disorders Or abuses to be Committed by the saids two Captains and other persons to be Imployed by them as said is in takeing on the said Seamen, But allwayes to keep themselves within the bounds the Law prescrybes.

The Earle of Leven did qualifie himself to her Majestie as one of her Majesties privy Councill By Swearing the Oath of alledgance and Subscryveing the same with the assurance and the Lord Chancelor Did tender to his Lordship the Oath de fideli and therafter his Lordship did take his place at the board accordingly.

Act Mcdonald of Keppoch

Anent a Petition given into her Majesties high Commissioner and Lords of her Majesties privy Councill by Collonell Mcdonald of Kippoch Shewing That wher her majestie haveing granted ane warrant to the petitioner and Some other persones therinnamed for a Remission dated the Sixteinth day of January Jajvijc and thrie In which the Secretaries Servants have Omitted to inser the Clause ordaineing the Same to pass the great Seall per Saltum Upon which account the directors of the Chancelary Scruples to extend the said Remission without ane warrant be given for that effect And Seing his Grace and the saids Lords were in use to interpose ther authority in the Like caices And Therfore Humbly Craveing the Saids Lords would be pleased to grant warrant to the director of her Majesties Chancelary and his deputes for wryting out of the Said Remission and to the Lord high Chancelor and keeper of the great seall for appending the Same therto without passing any other Register or Seall. His Grace her Majesties high Commissioner and the Lords of her Majesties privy Councill Having Considered this petitione Given in to them by Collonell Mcdonald of Keppoch And the Samen being read in their presence The Saids Lords of her Majesties privy Councill Doe heireby Leave it to the petitioner to apply to the Lords of her Majesties Exchequer for passing the Remission in his favors Conforme to ane warrand under her Majesties hand dated the Sixteinth of January Jajvijc and thrie years And that in the Ordinary forme used in the Like caices.

Recommendation to the thesaurie for outtrigging her majesties two Ships of warr for preserving Trade etc

His Grace her Majesties high Commissioner and Lords of her Majesties privy Councill Having Considered the many informationes given in to them of the damnadges Sustained by the Merchants in this Kingdome in their trade both on the East and western Coasts. By French Privateers Find it necessary that her Majesties two Shipps of Warr Called the Mary and Dunbartoun Castle be Outreiked and Imployed for her Majesties Service in Secureing the trade of this kingdome and Coasts therof from the insults of French privateers and any damnadges that the Merchants and trade of this kingdome may Sustaine by them; And Therfore Recommends to the Lords of her Majesties thesaury to take effectuall Course for outtrigging of the saids two Ships of Warr, And to order and give warrand for payment of Such Soumes of money as shall be necessary for the effect and Service abovementioned And for mantaineing the saids two Shipps of Warr at Sea with the men and officers aboard the same for the space of four moneths after the first day of July nixt to come, And Recommends to Livetenant Generall George Ramsay Commander in chief of her Majesties forces within this kingdom to order such ane number of the saids forces to march and be Shipped aboard the saids two men of Warr with officers to Command them as the Lords of her Majesties thesaury Shall appoint.

The Earles of Kintor and Galloway Lord Rae and Master of Tarbat qualifie them selves; as also the Mr of Tarbat swears and signes the formula apointed by act of Parliament

The Earles of Kintoir and Galloway, Lord Rae and Master of Tarbat Did all qualifiee themselves to her Majestie as of her Majesties privy Councill by swearing the oath of alledgance and Subscryveing the samen with the assurance to her Majestie and the Lord Chancelor Did tender to their Lordships the Oath de fideli And therafter their Lordships did take their places at the Board accordingly And the said Master of Tarbat did Swear and Signe the formula appointed by act of Parliament In presence of the Lords of her Majesties privy Councill and therafter he did take his place at the board accordingly.
