Warrant
Warrant For Six Souldiers and a Corporall to stay with Alexander Veatch2
His Majesties high Commissioner and the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Having Considered the verball Report made to them be Sir James Stewart His Majesties Advocate anent Alexander Veatch, Tennent in Kings meadows anent his haveing seazed some Theives, and his having Seazed some money which was on them They heirby give order and warrand To the Commander in Cheiff of his majesties Forces within this Kingdom To allow and Furnish To the said Alexander Veatch The Number of six foot Souldiers and a Corporall for the Security of his person and for Seazeing of Theives or Robbers, And gives warrant and Commission to the said Alexander Weitch and the Corporall and Six Souldiers appointed to be given to him To Search for seaze upon and apprehend all such Theives Robbers or House-breakers, Idle or vagrant persones who Can give no good3 account of themselves, and all sturdy Beggers or who carry and bear armes, And to Committ them to the next prison whose Keepers and Magistrats and Magistrats of the Burgh where the saids prisones are, The Councill ordaines To Receave and detain the persones which they shall Committ as prisoners, And heirby orders the said Alexander Veitch, To maintain the said Corporall and Six Souldiers att a Reasonable Rate, Till their Mantenance Extend to the Soume of Twenty Dollars of the money Found be him upon the saids Theives And Appointes And gives order and warrand to the said Alexander Veitch, To use and dispose upon the Rest of the money which he gott upon the saids Theives as his own money at his pleasure in tyme Comeing, And discharges all Judges or other persones whatsoever, To Trouble or molest him thereanent.
