Warrant

Warrant for Changing Peter and Donald Browns Sentence into Banishment

Ludovick Grant of that Ilk having Represented to the Councill, That Peter and Donald Browns, presently prisoners in the tolbooth of Bamff were Sentenced to death by the Sheriff deput of Bamff, upon the act of parliament made against Egyptians, And Therfore Craved the Councill wold Commute the Said Sentence from death to Banishment, The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill having Considered the above Representation, They do heirby Commute and Change the said sentence of death pronunced against the saids Peter and Donald Browns, by the said Sheriff deput of Bamff to Banishment, And have banished and heirby banishes the saids Peter and Donald Browns furth of His Majestys dominions, And discharges them never to return therto, under the pain of death, and gives order and Warrant to the magistrats of Bamff and keeper of their tolbooth; to sett the saids Peter and Donald Browns at Liberty furth therof, They first Enacting themselves in the books of His Majestys privy Councill, That they shall depart furth of His Majestys dominions, and never return within the Samen, under the pain of Having the forsaid Sentence of death immediatly put in Execution against them, And Recommends to and ordains the Said Laird of Grant to See the Saids Peter and Donald Browns Shipped and put out of the Countrey. and to see the premises put to due Execution against them, And Ordaines the said Peter and Donald Browns, to be delivered to his hands for that Effect, by the Saids Magistrats of Bamff, after they have Enacted themselves in manner abovementioned, Sic Subscribitur Marchmont Cancellar; Buchan, Montgomerie Polwarth, Heu Dalrymple, Falconar David Home, Ludouick Grant, Pattrick Johnstone

Warrant for Interring the Corps of Lady Elizabeth Kennedy in the Abbay Church

The Lords of His majestys privy Councill, do heirby Recommend to Her Grace, Anna Dutches of Hamilton, and in her absence gives order and warrant to John Hamilton Her Graces Baillie deput in the abbay of Halyroodhouse to Suffer and permitt the body of Lady Elizabeth Kennedy Sister to the Earle of Cassills, to be Interred with in the abbay Church of Halyroodhouse notwithstanding the Same be declared His Majesties Chappell, for which this shall be to all Concerned a Sufficient warrant.
