Letter from the Queens Majestie To the Councill for apprehending Captain James Murray son to the Laird of Stenhope Being read was ordered to be recorded and recommended to the Clerks to bring into the Councill this afternon aproclamation in the termes therof Wherof the tennor followes

Right trusty and right weell beloved Cousing and Councellor Right trusty and Enteirly beloved Cousins and Councellors Right trusty and weell beloved Cousins and Councellors Right trusty and weell beloved Councellors And trusty and wellbeloved Councellors Wee Greet yow weell Whereas By some discoveries lately made of the Evill designes that were carrying on by Emissaries from France to the prejudice of us and our Government We understand That Captain James Murray sone to the Laird of Stenhope was deeply concern’d with others in the said Treasonable practices and that he is absconded Therefore It is our will and pleasure And we heirby authorize and Requyre yow to Ishew furth a Proclamation in our name in such manner and forme as is usuall on the lyke occasiones for apprehending the sapd Captain James Murray with a Reward of five Hundered pound sterling to be payed Immediatly by our Treasaurie there to such persone or persones who shall take or apprehend him And not doubting of your cair and dilligence in this matter Wee bid yow heartily fairwell Given At our Court At St James The Tuenty fourth day of february 1703/4 years And of our Rigne the second year By Her Majesties Command sic subscribitur Cromertie.
