Committee for Examining the Captain and Livts of the French Frigott

The Lords of Her Majesties privie Councill Doe heirby appoint, The Lords Advocat and Justice Clerk, To be a Committee, To Call for and Examine, The Captain and Livetennent of the French privateir, taken by Captain Gordon, And Recommends to the said Committee to meet tomorrow at Ten of the Clock in the foirnoon, and to report.

The Lords of Her Majesties privie Councill Doe heirby Give order and warrand to there Macers, To Seise and apprehend the person of John Steill son to Patrick Steill vintiner in Edinburgh and to committ him prisoner in the Tolbooth of Edinburgh therein to remaine ay and whyle he renew the Caution given by him for his appearance when called, and that at the sight of the Committee appointed anent the ill practices and designes against the Government.

Warrand for Committing the Captain and Livetennent of the French shipe taken by Captain Gordon prisoners in Edinburgh Tolbooth, and ordaining the said Captain Gordon to bring ashoar the Crew and Committ them prisoners to the Tolbooths of Leith and Cannongate

The Lord high Chancellor, Haveing represented to the Councill, That Captain Gordon Commander of Her Majesties Frigott, The Royall Mary, had taken ane France Frigot, and brought her up to the road of Leith, where she with her Crew are at present lying, The saids Lords of Her Majesties Privie Councill Doe heirby Appoint and ordaine, The Captaine and Livetennant of the said French Shipe taken by the said Captain Gordon, To be Comitted prisoners to the Tolbooth of Edinburgh, therein to remaine till furder orders, And gives order and warrand to the Magistrats of Edinburgh and keeper of there Tolbooth to receave them prisoners and detaine them therein, And als gives order and warrand, and Commands and ordains the said Captain Gordon to bring the Crew of the said French shipe ashoar, And the one halfe therof to Comitt prisoners to the Tolbooth of Leith, and the other halfe prisoners in the Tolbooth of Cannongate, And for that effect Gives order and warrand, To the Magistrats of Leith and Cannongate and keepers of there Tolbooth, To receave them prisoners And to keep hold and detaine them in there respective Tolbooths till furder orders of Councill theranent, And Commands and ordains the Commandant for the tyme at Leith to furnish and provyde ane sufficient guard for transporting the Crew to the respective Tolbooths abovementioned, And appoints and ordains ilk ane of the said Crew, to have thrie shilling scots a day payed for there subsistance, And for that effect, Recomends to the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesties Thesaurie to see the same effectually payed.
