Proclamation

Proclamation adjurning the parliament

Anne by the Grace of God Queen of Great Brittain, France and Irland defender of the faith To our Lyon King at armes, and his bretheren Heraulds, Meacers of our privie Councill, Purservants, Messengers at armes our Shirreffs in that pairt Conjunctllie and Severallie Speciallie constitut Greeting, Forasmuchas the present State of our affairs does not allow the meeting of our parliament of this2 our antient kingdome of Scotland upon the third day of May nixt to come to which it Stands by our authority adjurned, So that a further adjurnement for a Short tyme is necessary, Wee are therfor resolved to continue the said adjournement to the twentie fourth day of May nixt to come, and firmely resolved our said parliament shall meet preceisly on the said twentie fourth day of May nixt without further delay for the good ends for which wee have called it, Therfore and that the members of our said parliament be not putt to the trouble and charges of meeting upon the said third day of May nixt, Wee with advyce of the Lords of our privie Councell have Adjourned, and heirby Adjourne our said current parliament from the said third day of May nixt to the said Twentie fourth day of May nixt therafter, Requyreing heirby all the members therof to attend at Edinburgh the said day in the usuall way and wnder the accustomed certifications by law appoynted, Our Will is Heirfore and wee charge yow Strictly and Comand that in continent thir our Letters Seen ye pass to the mercat cross of Edinburgh, And to the mercat crosses of the haill remanent head burghs of the Severall Shyres and Steuartries within this our antient kingdome, And ther in our name and authority by open proclamation Make publict Intimation that our said parliament is adjourned to the said twenty fourth day of May nixt to come, And ordaines these presents to be printed and published, Given under our Signet at Edinburgh the Eighteinth day of Apryll and of our reigne the fourth year 1705. Proclamation adjourning the parliament

Anne by the grace of God queen of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, defender of the faith, to our lyon king at arms and his brethren heralds, macers of our privy council, pursuivants, messengers at arms, our sheriffs in that part conjunctly and severally specially constituted, greeting. Forasmuch as the present state of our affairs does not allow the meeting of our parliament of this our ancient kingdom of Scotland upon 3 May next to come, to which it stands by our authority adjourned, so that a further adjournment for a short time is necessary, we are therefor resolved to continue the said adjournment to 24 May next to come, and firmly resolved our said parliament shall meet precisely on the said 24 May next without further delay for the good ends for which we have called it. Therefore and [so] that the members of our said parliament be not put to the trouble and charges of meeting upon the said 3 May next, we with advice of the lords of our privy council have adjourned, and hereby adjourn our said current parliament from the said 3 May next to the said 24 May next thereafter, requiring hereby all the members thereof to attend at Edinburgh the said day in the usual way and under the accustomed certifications by law appointed. Our will is therefore and we charge you strictly and command that immediately these our letters [are] seen ye pass to the mercat cross of Edinburgh, and to the mercat crosses of the whole remnant head burghs of the several shires and stewartries within this our ancient kingdom, and there in our name and authority by open proclamation make public intimation that our said parliament is adjourned to the said 24 May next to come, and ordain these present to be printed and published. Given under our signet at Edinburgh 18 April and of our reign the fourth year 1705. Queens Letter for adjurning the parliament

Letter from the Queen to the Councill for adjurneing the parliament to the Twentie fourth of May nixt being read, was ordered to be recorded, And a proclamation in the tearmes therof being prepared, was also Read, and ordained to be published printed and recorded, which accordingly this day was done, Folloues the letter.

Right trustie and Right well beloved Cousine and Councellor, Right trustie and right well beloved Cousins and Councellors, Right trustie and well beloved Cousins and Councellors, Right trustie and and2 well beloved Councellors, and trustie and well beloved Councellors Wee greet yow weell Wheras the present State of our affairs, Does not allow of the meeting of our parliament So Soon as the third of May nixt to which it is now adjurned, So that a further adjurnement for a Short tyme is necessary; Wee therfor authorize and requyre yow to issue out a new proclamation in our name, Continueing the said adjournement of our parliament from the said third day of May to the Twentie fourth day of the said moneth, and ordering all the members therof to attend that day at Edinburgh in the usuall way, and upon the certifications accustomed, wee being firmely resolved our said parliament Shall meet preceisly upon the said twentie fourth day of May nixt without further delay; So wee bid yow heartily fairwell. Given at our Court at St James’s the Sevinth day of Apryll 1705. And of our reigne the fourth year, By her Majesties Command Sic Subscribitur Alexander Wedderburne.

Letter from the queen to the council for adjourning the parliament to 24 May next being read, was ordered to be recorded, and a proclamation in the terms thereof being prepared, was also read, and ordained to be published, printed, and recorded, which accordingly this day was done. Follows the letter:

Right trusty and right well beloved cousin and counsellor, Right trusty and right well beloved cousins and counsellors, right trusty and well beloved cousins and counsellors, right trusty and well beloved counsellors, and trusty and well beloved counsellors, we greet yow well. Whereas the present state of our affairs does not allow of the meeting of our parliament so soon as 3 May next, to which it is now adjourned, so that a further adjournment for a short time is necessary; we therefor authorise and require you to issue out a new proclamation in our name, continuing the said adjournment of our parliament from the said 3 May to 24 of the said month, and ordering all the members thereof to attend that day at Edinburgh in the usual way, and upon the certifications accustomed, we being firmly resolved our said parliament shall meet precisely upon the said 24 May next without further delay. So wee bid yow heartily farewell. Given at our court at St James’s 7 April 1705. And of our reign the fourth year. By her majesty’s command Sic Subscribitur Alexander Wedderburn.

The Lords of her Majesties privie Councill Doe heirby Recommend to the Lords Commissioners of her Majesties Theasaury to cause aliment Gabriell Clerk a false coyner, and others imprisoned in the Tollbooth of Edinburgh on that accompt dureing their Imprisonment.

Warrand for fuall to Fort William etc

The Lords of her Majesties privie Councell having by former ordinance of Councill Appoynted Major Generall Maitland To continue the possession of fewall and other conveniencies for the Garison of Fort William as formerly, And to mantaine and defend himselfe therin, Doe heirby Appoynt and Ordaine the said Major Generall not only to continue the possession of fewall as formerly at Fort William But also to mantaine and defend himselfe in the possession of fewall and other conveniencies for his Garison and pairtie at Invergorie, And in all other out posts as formerly; And appoynts and ordains the said Major Generall to acquaint Glengarie that his loss and damnage for the Samen, Shall be considered, and he Satisfied therfor.

Warrant for fuel to Fort William etc

The lords of her majesty’s privy council having by former ordinance of council appointed Major General [James] Maitland to continue the possession of fuel and other conveniences for the garrison of Fort William as formerly, and to maintain and defend himself therein, do hereby appoint and ordain the said major general not only to continue the possession of fuel as formerly at Fort William, but also to maintain and defend himself in the possession of fuel and other conveniences for his garrison and party at Invergarry, and in all other outposts as formerly. And appoints and ordains the said major general to acquaint [Alexander MacDonald of] Glengarry that his loss and damage for the same shall be considered, and he satisfied therefor.
