Letter from the King anent Duke Gordone

The following letter being read was ordered to be recorded follows the tenor of the Letter sic suprascribitur William Rex Right trusty and right welbeloved Cousin an Councillor Right trusty and Intirely beloved Cousin and Councillor Right trusty and right welbeloved Cousins and Councillors Right trusty and welbeloved Cousins and Councillors Right trusty and welbeloved Councillors and trusty and welbeloved Councillors we greet you well It is our will and pleasure That you take of all Confynement and restraint upon George Duke of Gordon, and accept of sufficient Baill and Security of him To Live peaceablie under our Government To compear before you when called and that He shall not goe further north then the River of Tay for doeing whereof 2 this shall be your warrant so we bid you heartily farewell Given at our Court at Kensington the fyfteenth day of January 1695/6 and of our Reigne the 7th year By his Majesties command sic subscribitur J Johnstoune

The following Letter being read was ordered to be recorded and delayed the Act to be made theron till next councill day quherof the tenor follows2
sic suprascribitur William Rex Right trusty and Right welbeloved Cousin and Councillor Right trusty and intirely beloved Cousin and Councillor Right trusty and right welbeloved Cousins and Councillors Right trusty and welbeloved Cousins and Councillors Right trusty and well beloved Councillors and trusty and welbeloved Councellors we greet you well whereas John Lord Drumcairne being one of those who refuiseth to give those proofs of his Loyalty and duety to us that the Law requyres was by our ordor of Apryll Last put in Prisone in which he hes continued since It is our pleasure at present in reguard to his health which we are informed suffer’s by the prisone That you confyne him to his house in the Countrey he finding bale to keep within the said Confynement and to appear when called for in the usuall manner for the doeing whereof this shall be your warrant and so we bid you heartily farewell Given at our Court at Kensingtoune the fourteenth day of January 1695 and of our Reigne the 7th year By his Majesties Command sic subscribitur J Johnstoune
