Warrant To deliver up the Earl of Seaforths Bond

The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Doe heirby give order and warrant To their Clerks To give up and deliver to the Earle of Seaforth or his Cautioners The Bond granted be his Lordship and them To the Councill for his peaceable Behaviour and appearing upon the First Councill Day of July Last bypast or at whatsomever tyme betwixt and that day, he should be called for Containing the penalty of Two Thousand pound Sterling: In Respect The said Earle hes appeared and is presently prisoner in the Castle of Edinburgh Albeit the Bond was not sought up when he was committed thereto Which Bond is dated The Twenty Two, Tenth, Twenty Three and Twenty Fourth days of March Last bypast for doing whereof this shall be to all persons concerned a Sufficient warrant.

The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Being acquainted by Sir James Stewart his majesties Advocate That he hes a Letter from the sheriff deput of Renfrew signifieing That the persons Imprisoned in that Countrey as witches are in a Starving Condition And That these who Informed against them are passing from them And That the sheriff Deput says he will send them in prisoners to Edinburgh tolbooth unless they be quickly tried. In Respect he is not able to maintain them. The saids Lords Doe Recommend to the Lord Advocate To write To the said Sheriff Deput That he cause Subsist the saids persons untill the Councill meet in november next att which tyme they Incline to find a Commission to the Countrey for trying them And that they will Recommend the said sheriff Depute or any other who shall subsist the said witches To the Lords Commissioners of his majesties Thesaury for what they shall depurse upon their subsistence.

Indemnity For Ferrill and Neilson Two Theives

The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Being Informed by his majesties Advocate That John Hamilton alias Scarlet a famous Rober is presently prisoner in the Tolbooth of Edinburgh And That his Lordship is Scrimped in the Probation against him and that Paull Ferrill and Thomas Neilson prisoners with him in the said tolbooth for the Like crymes are the only persons That he is Informed can be found as Witnesses against him And That these persons cannot be Receaved as Witnesses In Respect they stand accused of the crymes of Theft and Robbery unless they be First Indemnified of the said Crimes Therfore The saids Lords doe heirby Indemnifie The saids persons of the Crimes of Theft pickery and persecuting of which they are dilated. A Letter from his majestie To the Councill for Receaving Collonel George Hamiltons Regiment into Scotland, And Declaring That it is his majesties will and pleasure as soon as they Land in the said Kingdom That the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Cause subsist the same both officers and souldiers untill His Majesties furder orders out of the same fonds and in the same manner That the other forces that are Subsisted at present The Day of the said Regiment commenceing from the Twenty one of October Then next to Come now Instant To which day they are already satisfied which Letter is dated the Twenty of September Last being read again this day. And The Lord high Chancelor having signified To the Councill That by a Line from the under secretarie who subscrived the said Letter Its signified to his Lordship That by the Twenty first of october mentioned in the said Letter is meant the Eleventh of october according to our style The saids Lords of his majesties privy Councill Doe heirby Recommend To the Lords Commissioners of his majesties Thesaury To cause subsist the forsaid Regiment from the said Eleventh of october Instant in the Terms and during the space mentioned in his majesties above Letter as is above narrated therein And Recommends To their Lordships To call for his majesties Letter If they think Convenient.
