Act Allowing a voluntary Contribution through out the Kingdom for Redeeming Skipper Simpson and his Crew in Algeirs

Anent The Petition given in to the Lords of his majesties privy2 By Katharin Greg Spouse to James Simpsone Skipper of the Margaret of Dysart Shewing That their Petitioners husband being Fraughted to France and on his voyadge thither, was upon the Tuenty nynth of May Jai vic nynty nyne, Seazed with his haill Crew viz Thomas Heagie mariner in Dysart, John Brown and Andrew Galt mariners in Kirkaldy, John Machie mariner in West Kirk paroch, and John Stewart mariner in Queensferry and Ship and and Loadning nyne Leagues aff of Plimouth upon the Coast of England, By ane Algerian Pirrit and carried prisoners to Algeir, where they Remain ever since under Extream hardships and barbarity; as is Evident by Severall Missives transmitted to their Petitioner, Mr David Williamsone minister in West-Kirk and others therewith produced, And Albeit Endeavours hes been used for their Releiff from such unchristian Slavery, yet after all it appears absolutely unpracticable unless his Grace and their Lordships authroize a voluntary Collection for their Redemption. And Therfore humbly Craving to the Effect underwrittin as the said petition bears. His Majesties high Commissioner, and the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill, having Considered this petition given in to them by Katharin Gregg Spouse to James Sympsone Skipper of the Margaret of Dysart, They doe heirby Grant warrand For and allows a voluntar Collection to be made over the whole Kingdom upon the last Sabbath day of December next to come and ordaines the Collectiones to be transmitted to, and Lordged in the hands of the moderator of the Presbetry of Kirkaldie for the tyme being, And appointes the said moderator and presbetry of Kirkaldy to see the saids Collectiones applyed for Redemption of the said James Sympsone Skipper in the First place, and Thomas Kegie, John Brown, Andrew Galt, John McKie and John Stewart his Crew, in the next place, and appoints Intimation heirof to be made from the Pulpit the Sabbath day immediatly preceeding the day of Collection abovementioned, In Respect the said Petitioner hes before Extracting hereof given Bond and found Sufficient Caution acted in the books of his majesties privy Councill, That the forsaids Collectiones Shall be applyed in the tearmes above appointed or that the said moderator and presbetry Shall be Countable for the Same.

Committee Anent Thomas Anderson and John Davis

His Majesties high Commissioner and the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill having heard the Confessions of Thomas Andersone, Sometyme residenter in Edinburgh now in New Castle and of John David taylor, taken in presence of John Duncan one of the present Baillies of Edinburgh Read in their presence, They heirby nominat and appoint The Earles of Lauderdale and Lothian, The Lords Justice-Clerk, Aberuchill, Philiphaugh, and Phesdo, to be a Committy to Consider the above declarationes and Confessions of the saids Two persones and the Sentence or Sentences of the Justice Court, given and pronunced against them, with the Acts of privy Councill Changing or altering their saids Sentences, and to make their Report to the privy Councill what is to be done with the saids two persones, And declares any Three of the said Committee to be a Sufficient quorum and Recommends to them to meet to morrow at ten in the forenoon and to make their Report to the Councill with their First Conveniency.

Warrant For Transporting James Hall to his Majesties plantations in America

The Lord Justice -Clerk having Represented to his Majesties high Commissioner and the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill, That he hade Given warrand for incarcerating James Hall in the Paroch of Eastwood in the Tolbooth of Glasgow for pickery and Theiving, and That upon Examination he hath made Confession of the Said Crymes, and being but a young boy about Fifteen years of age, Is Content to give his Consent for being transported to the plantations if their Lordships shall think fitt: His Majesties high Commissioner and the Lords of privy Councill, have allowed and heirby allows the said James Hall, to be Transported furth of his Majesties dominions to his Majesties plantations in America, upon his giving his Consent therto before any of the Magistrats of Glasgow or any other place where he is Incarcerat.

The Following Proclamation In obedience to his Majesties Letter being prepaired was read voted and Signed and ordered to be Recorded, quherof the tenor Follows.
William By the grace of God, King of Great Brittain France and Ireland defender of the Faith; To our Lyon King att armes and his Bretheren Heiraulds, Macers of our privy Councill, Pursevants Messengers att armes, Our Sheriffs in that pairt, Conjunctly and Severally Specialy Constitut, Greeting. Whereas we by our Letter To our Commissioner, and the Lords of our privy Councill, of the Twenty Sixth day of July last bypast, Did order the Adjournment of our Parliament To the Two and Twentieth Instant we were fully Resolved It Should have mett on the said day, But our necessar affairs haveing detained us longer abroad then we at First Intended. And We Judgeing it Still Fitt, we should be in Brittain before the meeting of our said Parliament we Therfore with advice of the Lords of our privy Councill, have adjourned and heirby adjournes our said present current parliament From the said Twenty Two day of October Instant, To the Twenty Nynth day of the said moneth and year. Right Trusty and Entirely beloved Cousin and Councellor, Right Trusty and right welbeloved Cousin and Councellor, Right Trusty and welbeloved Cousins and Councellors, Right Trusty and welbeloved Councellors, and Trusty and welbeloved Councellors, and Trusty and welbeloved Councellors We greet yow well. Whereas by our Letter to yow of the Six and Twentieth of July last, we did order the adjournment of our Parliament To the Two and Twentieth Instant, We were Fully Resolved, It Should have mett on the said day, But our necessary affairs having detained us longer in this Countrey, Then we at First Intended, and we Judgeing it still Fitt, we Should be in Brittan before the meeting of our said Parliament, We doe Therfore authorize and Require yow to Issue forth a Proclamation in our name for adjourning our said Parliament from the said Two and Twentieth Instant to the Twenty Nynth therof, And ordaines all the members to attend that day at Edinburgh in the usual way and upon the accustomed Certificationes.
