Comittie anent Mr Bruce minister at Pittenweyme

The Lords of their majesties privy Councill being informed that ther are some ministers sent from the united presbytries of Couper and St Androwes to attend the Committie of Councill formerly appointed to Conferr with the ministers which should come from the saids presbytries upon the subject matter of Mr Bruce minister at Pittenweyme his petitione who have been some dayes at this place to have attended the said Comittie viz The Lord Fontonhall and Sir Robert Sinclar of Stivensone who are justly in the Countrey They Nominat the Lord Viscount Stair and Lord Raith Thesaurer depute to Conferr with the saids ministers and Report.

Gilmuirscleugh to Comand heretors of Selkirkshyre under Torwoodlie

A Letter from Pringle of Torwoodlie appointed to Comand the Heretors in the Shyre of Selkirk Representing the unfittnes of Scott of Broadmeadowes to Comand as is appointed Imediatly under him And that John Scott younger of Gilmuirsleugh a persone qualifyed for that charge, Read, And nominates the said John Scott to comand in place of Broadmeadowes And Appoints a letter to be written to him for that effect.

Order

Order to Captain Sletzer for transporting six field pieces from Stirling to Edinburgh

The Lords of there Majestyes privie Councill haveing Considered the petitione given in to them be Captain Sletzer and the Conditione of the artilery Company also given in be him in wreitt with the report of a Comittee to whom it wes remitted to Consider the said petitione and Condition of the artilery Company They hereby Appoint the said Captain Sletzer to cause transport with all expedition from the Castle of Stirling to Edinburgh six of the field pieces Lyeing in that Castle which are in the best case for service and that aither by water or by Land as he shall think most convenient And ordaines the Captain to have these six pieces in good case, And put the Carriadges and all other things necessarie for these pieces in good conditione that they may be in readienes to doe service in the field with the forces If the same be found neadfull And Recomends to the Lords Commissioners of there Majestyes theasurie To cause payment be made to the said Captain Sletzer of such soumes of money as they shall find competent for defrayeing the expenses to be debursed in this effair And appoints the Captain to attend the saids Lords Commissioners that he may receave there orders in this matter.

Order to Captain Slezer for transporting six field pieces from Stirling to Edinburgh

The lords of their majesties’ privy council having considered the petition given in to them by Captain [John] Slezer and the condition of the artillery company also given in by him in writing with the report of a committee to whom it was remitted to consider the said petition and condition of the artillery company. They hereby appoint the said Captain Slezer to transport with all expedition from the Castle of Stirling to Edinburgh six of the field pieces lying in that castle which are in the best state for service, and that either by water or by land as he shall think most convenient, and they ordain the captain to have these six pieces in good condition, and put the carriages and all other things necessary for those pieces in good condition that they may be ready to do service in the field with the forces if the same be found necessary, and they recommend to the lords commissioners of their majesties’ treasury to have payment made to the said Captain Slezer of such sums of money as they shall find competent for defraying the expenses to be disbursed in this affair, and they appoint the captain to attend the said lords commissioners that he may receive their orders in this matter.

Letter from Commissioners in Lanerkshyre

A Letter from the Commissioners of Supplie in Lanerk shyre In ansuer to a letter from the Councill to them anent the officers of Fencible men and heretors offering there Lyves and fortunes in defence of the protestant religion and there Majesties persone and government And humbly desyreing that there fencible men may be regimented, Read, and a Letter appointed by the Councill to be drawen Returning the Councills thanks to these Commissioners And signifyeing to them that the Councills pleasure is not only that they transmitt to the Councill the Lists of the Inferior officers both of heretors and Fenciblemen But Lykewayes recomend to them such persones persones2 as they think fittest to Comand as Collonells and Leivetennent Collonells over the Fencible men in the said shyre

Letter from commissioners in Lanarkshire

A letter from the commissioners of supply in Lanarkshire in answer to a letter from the council to them concerning the officers of fencible men and heritors, offering their lives and fortunes in defence of the Protestant religion and their majesties persons and government and humbly desiring that their fencible men may be regimented, was read and a letter appointed by the council to be drafted returning the council’s thanks to those commissioners and signifying to them that the council’s pleasure is not only that they transmit to the council the lists of the inferior officers both of heritors and fencible men but likewise recommend to them such persons as they think fittest to command as colonels and lieutenant colonels over the fencible men in the said shire.
