Comittee anent the hearth money

The Lords of there Majestyes privie Councill doe hereby recomend to the Lord viscount Tarbatt The Lord Enstruther Sir John Maxwell of Pollock and Sir William Lockhart there majestyes sollicitor or any three of them to meet and Consider what methods and courses are fitt to be followed for the more speedie and effectuall Inbringing of the hearth money appointed to there majestyes by act of parliament And allowes any of the Lords Commissioners of the theasurie to meet with the forsaid Committee.

The lords of their majesties privy council do hereby recommend to the Lord Viscount Tarbat, the Lord Anstruther, Sir John Maxwell of Pollock and Sir William Lockhart, their majesties’ solicitor, or any three of them, to meet and consider what methods and courses are fit to be followed for the more speedy and effectual bringing in of the hearth money appointed to their majesties by act of parliament, and allows any of the lords commissioners of the treasury to meet with the forsaid committee.

Comittee anent Judges not qualifyed by Law

The Lords of there Majestyes privie Councill doe hereby recomend to my Lord Montgomerie the Lord Enstruther and Sir William Lockhart there majestyes Sollicitor to consider and take tryall If there be any shirreffs principalls Bailzies principalls of regalityes or bailzieryes or other principall Judges within this Kingdome whose deputts exercise there offices, The principalls not haveing as yet qualifyed themselves to act in the termes of Law And to report there names to the Councill.

The lords of their majesties’ privy council do hereby recommend to my Lord Montgomerie, the Lord Anstruther and Sir William Lockhart, their majesties’ solicitor, to consider and take trial if there be any sheriffs principals, baillies principals of regalities or bailiaries or other principal judges within this kingdom whose deputies exercise their offices, the principals not having as yet qualified themselves to act in the terms of law and to report their names to the council.
