Recomendation for dischargeing tuo Long boats at the Bass

The Lords of there majesties privie Councill Considering that the Keeping up of the tuo Long boats fitted out by the theasury upon recomendatione from there Lordships of the Councill againest the rebells in the Bass will be ane useles expenses and charge upon the government now in the Uinter seasone Doe therefore hereby recomend to the Lord High Chancellour to discharge the saids boatts after the first day of November next

Recommendation for discharging two Longboats at the Bass

The lords of their majesties’ privy council considering that the keeping up of the two longboats fitted out by the treasury upon recommendation from their lordships of the council against the rebels in the Bass will be a useless expense and charge upon the government now in the winter season, do therefore hereby recommend to the Lord High Chancellor to discharge the said boats after the first day of November next.

Letter to the secretary of state

The Letter under wreitten direct to Mr James Johnstoun secretary of state for the Kingdome of Scotland being read wes ordered to be recorded and signed be the Lord high Chancellour in name of the Councill whereof the tenor followes
My Lord
Wpon the news of His Majesties happie arryveall nothing wes Left undone to express the Joy of the people by all the usuall Solemnityes And this day it wes thought duety by the Councill to Congratulate his Majesties safe returne by a letter whereof wee send yow a Coppie And with all earnestly desyres that at your first convenience yow may know his pleasure and transmitt his Commands about his parliament for this kingdome which wes adjourned only to the sixteint of november next And what maner provisiones of Corne and straw shall be made by the Countrey to the troops now when they are disposed of in there winter quarters without Locality or free quarters both discharged by act of parliament And his majesties pleasure therein shall receave due obedience signed in name and by warrand of the Councill By My Lord Your Humble servant sic subscribitur Tweeddale Cancel: J p d:

Letter to the Secretary of state

The letter underwritten directed to Mr James Johnston, secretary of state for the kingdom of Scotland, being read was ordered to be recorded and signed by the Lord High Chancellor in name of the council whereof the tenor follows
My Lord,
Upon the news of His majesty’s happy arrival nothing was left undone to express the joy of the people by all the usual solemnities, and this day it was thought duty by the council to congratulate his majesty’s safe return by a letter whereof we send you a copy, and with all earnestly desires that at your first convenience you may know his pleasure and transmit his commands about his parliament for this kingdome which was adjourned only to 16 November next, and what manner provisions of corn and straw shall be made by the country to the troops now when they are disposed of in their winter quarters without locality or free quarters, both discharged by act of parliament, and his majesty’s pleasure therein shall receive due obedience, signed in name and by warrant of the council, by my Lord, your humble servant Signed thus Tweeddale chancellor and the the lords present.

Letter from the Councill to the King upon his returne from his Camp

The Following Letter wes read approven and signed and ordered to be recorded whereof the tenor followes
May it please your majestie,
Your majesties happie returne to Brittain from your Campaigne in Flanders wherein your Royall persone wes so much exposed Not only to the hazard and danger of ane active warr But Latent treachery whereof it pleased Almightie God to make so full and clear a discoverie Gives great Joy to this your ancient Kingdome and obleidgeth us to Congratulate your safe arryveall our prayers alwayes accompanyeing yow for your safety and success againest the Comon enemie of the peace and quyet of Christendome And wee hope your majestie will Lay your Command on us wherein wee may be usefull in your service which shall alwayes be readiely and cheerfully obeyed by May it please your majesty. Your majesties most faithfull and most obedient servants and subjects subscribitur ut sederunt.

The following letter was read, approved and signed and ordered to be recorded whereof the tenor follows
May it please your majesty,
Your majesty’s happy return to Britain from your campaign in Flanders wherein your royal person was so much exposed not only to the hazard and danger of an active war but latent treachery whereof it pleased almighty God to make so full and clear a discovery, gives great joy to this your ancient kingdom and obliges us to congratulate your safe arrival our prayers always accompanying you for your safety and success against the common enemy of the peace and quiet of Christendom, and we hope your majesty will lay your command on us wherein we may be useful in your service which shall always be readily and cheerfully obeyed by, May it please your majesty. Your majesties most faithful and most obedient servants and subjects, signed by the sederunt.
