Committie anent the Highland Commission of Justiciary

The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Nominats and appoints the Lords Boyle,2 Phesdoe, and Aberurchill and the Laird of Grant to be a Committie for considering the above Commission and his Majesties Letter relative therto and how the blanks in the Commission Should be filled up and Recommends to them to meett tomorrow at ten in the forenoon and to make their report to the Councill with their first conveniencie, And Declairs any two of them to be a Sufficient quorum.

Right Trustie and right well beloved Cousin and Councillor Right trustie and intirely beloved Cousin and Councillor; Right Trustie trustie2 and well beloved Cousins and Councillors; Right trustie and well beloved Councillors, And trustie and well beloved Councillors, Wee greet yow well. Wheras wee have Considered the draught of the Commission of Justiciary for the Highlands which was approven by yow and delivered to our secretaries to be presented ot Us And wee takeing into our Royall consideration that the granting of this Commission may prove to be one of the most effectuall methods for repressing of Thifts Roberies and depredations which are now So frequently comitted in the Highlands and Countries nixt adjacent therto Wee have Therfore Signed the forsaid Commission And in regaird that wee cannot have so full information of the times and places most proper for meetting of the Commissioners; Wee have therfore thought fitt to order the same to be transmitted to yow with blanks which yow are hereby impowered to fill up as yow shall Judge most fitt: And to doe every other thing that may be necessary for makeing this Commission effectuall, For doeing wherof this Shall be your warrant And so wee bid yow heartily farewell. A Letter from his Majestie to the Lord Chancelor and privy Councill Requyreing them to give orders for Stoping One hundred and Sixty of the recruits to be Levied for Compleating the regiments out of which the late draughts were taken and incaice the one hundred and Sixty men be Compleated to give order for disbanding them with all expedition Being this day read in presence of the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill They do hereby give order and warrant to Major generall Ramsay Commander in Cheif of his Majesties forces within this kingdome to cause Stopp the Levieing of the Said one hundred and Sixty recruits or if they be Levied to cause disband them with all expedition in the termes forsaids of his Majesties Letter For doeing wherof this Shall be to him a Sufficient warrant.
