Act Mr John Wood for stipend

Anent the petitione Given in to the Lords of there Majesties privie Counsell be Mr John Wood Minister of the Gospell Shewing That upon tuesday last the petitioner haveing given in a bill to there Lordships Craveing ane modificatione out of the vacancies of the second maister of the theologie Colledge in the university of St Andrews for a present supplie to himself and his family There Lordships after Considering the petitione did refuse to dispose of any pairt of that fond for that end, But withall your Lordships were pleased to desyre the petitioner to Condescend upon any of the vacancies of churches And the petitioner knowing that the Church of Auchterderen in Fyff is and hes been vacant for the year last bypast And therefore Craveing that there Lordships would be pleased to grant the petitioner that years vacancie for the forsaid end and use As the said petitione bears The saids Lords of there Majestyes privie Counsell haveing considered this petitione given in to them be the above Mr John Wood They hereby allow to the petitioner the stipend of the above kirk of Auchterderen for the last half of the cropt and year of God Jaj vjc and Nyntie one and ordaines him to be readiely ansuered obeyed and payed thereof be the heretors fewers wodsetters and others Lyable in payment of the samen And ordaines Letters of horning at the petitioners instance againest them for that effect He produceing a decreet of Locality And in case there be none ordaines these Lyable to Make payment2 to him of there respective proportiones of the said stipend for the said half year according as they shall be decerned be the Judge ordinarie the petitioner3 alwayes befor extracting hereof produceing the patrones Consent

Concerning the petition given in to the lords of their majesties’ privy council by Mr John Wood, minister of the gospel, showing that upon Tuesday last, the petitioner having given in a bill to their lordships craving a modification out of the vacancies of the second master of the theology college in the university of St Andrews for a present supply to himself and his family, their lordships after considering the petition did refuse to dispose of any part of that fund for that end, but withal your lordships were pleased to desire the petitioner to condescend upon any of the vacancies of churches. And the petitioner knowing that the church of Auchterderran in Fife is and has been vacant for the year last bypast and therefore craving that their lordships would be pleased to grant the petitioner that year’s vacancy for the foresaid end and use as the said petition bears. The said lords of their majesties’ privy council having considered this petition given in to them by the above Mr John Wood, they hereby allow to the petitioner the stipend of the above kirk of Auchterderran for the last half of the crop and year of God 1691, and ordain him to be readily answered, obeyed, and paid thereof by the heritors, feuers, wadsetters, and others liable in payment of the same. And ordain letters of horning at the petitioner’s instance against them for that effect, he producing a decreet of locality. And in case there be none, ordain those liable to make payment to him of their respective proportions of the said stipend for the said half year according as they shall be discerned be the judge ordinary, the petitioner always before extracting hereof producing the patron’s consent.

Protection for Thomas Wilson

Anent the petition Given in to the Lords of there Majesties privie Counsell be Mr Thomas Wilson Shewing That where the petitioners haveing ane process Againest Mr John Lyon shirreff Clerk of Forfar befor there Lordships for severall acts of oppression which moved the said Mr John to hound out some of the petitioners Creditors to raise horning and Caption againest him Thereby to divert the persuit againest him And the petitioner haveing obtained a protection till the tuentie fyfth instant now elapsed yet the Report of the Comittee ordained by your Lordships to Examine the effair not being given nor the witnesses depositiones Considered And therefor Craveing to the effect underwreitten As the said petition bears The saids Lords of there Majesties privie Counsell haveing Considered this petition Given in to them be the above Mr Thomas Wilson They hereby discharge all messengers at armes officers within burgh or others To put to execution any Letters of Caption or acts of warding againest the petitioner untill the sixteint day of Februarij instant Inclusive Excepting alwayes ther Majestyes debts or publict dues Sic Subscributur Tweeddale cancel: Douglas2 Crafurd Mortoun Polwarth C:Campbell T:Burnet J:Brodie T:Livingston

Protection for Thomas Wilson

Concerning the petition given in to the lords of their majesties’ privy council by Mr Thomas Wilson, showing that where the petitioner having a process against Mr John Lyon, sheriff clerk of Forfar before their lordships for several acts of oppression which moved the said Mr John to hound out some of the petitioner’s creditors to raise horning and caption against him, thereby to divert the pursuit against him, and the petitioner having obtained a protection till the twenty-fifth instant now elapsed, yet the report of the committee ordained by your lordships to examine the affair not being given, nor the witnesses’ depositions considered, and therefore craving to the effect underwritten as the said petition bears. The said lords of their majesties’ privy council having considered this petition given in to them by the above Mr Thomas Wilson, they hereby discharge all messengers at arms, officers within burgh, or others to put to execution any letters of caption or acts of warding against the petitioner until the sixteenth day of February instant inclusive, excepting always their majesties’ debts or public dues.
