Act In favours of the Company Trading to Africa and the Indies

Anent The Petition given in to his Grace His Majesties high Commissioner and the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill by the Court of Directors of the Company Trading to Africa and the Indies. Shewing That Captain Robert Pincartoune John Malloch, James Graham, Benjamin Spenso, and David Wilson, all imployed in the said Company’s service, now Prisoners at Sevill in old-Spain are after having undergone many hardships and barbarous Treatments tried now for their lives, and in all Probability like to be Condemned as Pirates for the Reasones mentioned in their own letter bearing date at Sevill Prison The Twenty of May last, The Exact Coppie of which is thereto annexed. That in Respect their Commission is founded upon the act of Parliament and Letters Patent Establishing the said Company, to which, it seems the Court of Spain gives no Credit. And Therfore Humbly Craving To The Effect underwrittin as the said Petition bears. His Majesties High Commissioner and Lords of his majesties privy Councill having Considered this Petition given to them be the Court of Directors of the Company Trading to Africa and the Indies They heirby nominates and appointes, The Earles of Lauderdale and Loudoun, Lords Montgomry and Forbes and Lord Halcraig to be a Committee, To take and Receave the oaths and depositiones of Such persones as the Petitioners, shall desyre to be taken for attesting the verity of the Coppy of the Act of Parliament and Gift Establishing the African and Indian Company in caice the Petitioners shall think fitt To Crave and take these attestations upon oath, And if they shall think the Same not needfull His Majesties High Commissioner and Lords of privy Councill declares they will attest as many authentick Coppies of the said Act of Parliament and Gift, By Causeing append The Councills Seal therto, as the petitioners shall desyre, And declares any Three of the Committee to be a Sufficient quorum.
