Act The Laird of McIntosh

Anent The Petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill By Lauchlan McIntosh of that Ilk, Shewing That where it is well Knowen to their Lordships, how much both he and his Property and the Government as to the publict peace have been troubled for many years by Coll McDonald Sometime in Keppoch, And Seing That their is some Probability he may be brought To Treat with the petitioner upon their Differences as also upon other Matters depending against him at the Sight of Brigadier Maitland, And That the said Coll doth Earnestly desyre the same but is under Letters of Intercommuneing. And Therfore Humbly Craving to the Effect underwritten as the said Petition bears. The Saids Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Having Considered this Petition given in to them by the above Laird of McIntosh They doe heirby allow the Petitioner and Such of his freinds as he shall give in list of both their names and designationes To Brigadier Maitland Governour att Fortwilliam To Commune and Treat with the within Coll McDonald in Keppoch In presence of the said Brigadier, And authorizes the said Brigadier To Grant personall protection To the said Coll Mcdonald To the Effect he may Commune and Treat with the saids persones In presence of the said Brigadier anent the petitioners privat affairs to be condescended upon and given in by him with the saids names and designationes to the said Brigadier Maitland untill the First day of June next to come, And Recomends to the Said Brigadier Maitland To make his Report to the privy Councill of the Said Converss and what shall pass therin, Betwixt and the first day of July next to Come.
