Act The Tacksmen of the Pole
Anent The Petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill By the Tacksmen of the Pole. Shewing That the Tacksmen having Imployed one John Laing to go to the north To uplift the deficiency of the Pole in Two or Three Shires who by his receits hath uplifted Two Thousand Pounds Scots and upwards who hes run away with the same and Shelters in the abbay, and whereas the Lord Chancellor hes been pleased To grant ane warrand under his Lordships hand, To apprehend the said John Laing wherever he could be found, And they having applyed to the Baillie of the abbay for his Concurrance he Refuses to Comply therewith, And Therfore Humbly Craving To the Effect underwritten as the said petition bears. The Saids Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Having Considered this Petition given in to them by the Tacksmen of the Pole, They doe heirby Recomend To her Grace the Dutches of Hamiltoun And in her absence gives order and warrand To John Hamiltoun her Graces Baillie within the Abbay of Halyroodhouse To Expell the within John Lang Furth of the said abbay which is now his Majesties palace and precincts of the same observed as a Sanctuary.
