Anent The Petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill By Andrew McDougall Esquire Shewing That where Robert Stewart of Apine […] McNaughton of that Ilk and Ewen Cameron of Locheill, Being Debitors in Considerable Soumes of money to umquhille Sir Andrew McDougall The Petitioners father and he having apprised their Lands and done all Legall diligence both personall and Reall against them, disponed the same to him before his decease, And notwithstanding the apprysings are many years agoe Expired and they all denunced and Caption against them att his Instance and that he hes been at vast Charges in prosecuting the said legall diligence, They live Securely in Contempt of his Majesties Laws and in January last the said Robert Stewart of Apine being apprehended with Caption att the Petitioners Instance, He and his associats upon the high Street of Edinburgh where the Supream Courts of the Nation Sit’s, in the midle of the day did openly and avowedly by Force with drawn Swords did deforce the Messengers and made his Escape as ane Instrument of deforce therwith produced will Testifie. And Therfore Humbly Craving to the Effect underwritten as the said petition bears. The Saids Lords of his majesties privy Councill Having Considered this Petition given in to them be the within Andrew McDougall Esquire with the Instrument of deforcement mentioned therin and produced therwith. They doe heirby give order and warrand to the Commanding officers of the Garrisones of Innerlochie and other Garrisons in that Countrey to give the Petitioner and these Imployed by him the Conucrrance of a Competent number of his majesties Forces out of these Garrisones for putting the Petitioners legall diligence in Execution against the saids Lairds of Apine McNaughtoune and Lochziell and their Tennents.
