Letter from the King to the Councill for Adjourning the Parliament

The Letter underwrittin from the King to the Councill Being Read was ordered to be Recorded whereof the tenor follows.
Sic Supra Scribitur William Rex
Right trusty and right welbeloved Cousin and Councellor, Right Trusty and Entirely beloved Cousin and Councellor, Right Trusty and Right welbeloved Cousins and Councellors, Right trusty and welbeloved Councellors, and Trusty and welbeloved Councellors. We greet yow well. notwithstanding we were positively Resolved our Parliament Should meet on the fourteenth day of May next; yet we understanding That our Right Trusty and Right Entirely Beloved Cousin and Councellor James Duke of Queensberry whom we have appointed to Represent our Royall person in the Ensueing Session cannot be in a Readiness against that day we are Therfore Resolved to Continue the Adjournment of our said Parliament from the said fourteenth day of May to the Twenty first of the said moneth of May next And That the members of Parliament be not put to the trouble and charges of meeting upon the said fourteenth day of May nixt, It is Therfore our will and Pleasure And we doe heirby authorize and Require yow To Issue forth a new Proclamation in our name ordering the Continuance of the Adjournment of our said Parliament from the said day to the said Twenty first day of May next. And ordaining all the Members To attend at Edinburgh that day, in the usuall way and upon the accustomed Certificationes, we being firmly Resolved That it Shall meet that day. For doing wherof this shall be your warrant, And so we bid yow heartily farewell, Given at our Court at Hamptoun court The Twenty fifth day of Aprile i700. And of our Reign the 12th year. By his Majesties Command. Sic Subscribitur Carmichaell.
