Recommendation To The Sheriff of Berwick To Shutt up the meeting houses within the parishes of Eymouth Coldinghame and Aytoun
Anent the Address of the Commission of the late Generall Assembly given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Shewing That the Parishes of Eymouth Coldinghame and Aytoun within the Presbetry of Chirnside are very much disturbed by th esetting up of Episcopall meeting houses within the saids parishes, wherby the people are withdrawn from their duty to his Majesty and all good order of the Church violat and Contemned which is more Fully Represented by the said Presbytry in their petition to the Said Commission therewith produced, And Therfore Humbly desyreing to the Effect underwritten as the said Address bears. The Saids Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Haveing Considered this Address given in to them be the Commission of the late Generall assembly with the Petition from the Presbetry of Chirnsyde mentioned therin and produced therwith, They doe heirby Recomend To the Lord high Chancellor Sheriff Principall of the Shire of Berwick That he give order and warrand to his Deputs To Shutt up all Episcopall meeting houses within the parishes of Eymouth Coldinghame and Aytoun within the said Presbetry of Chirnsyde or any other pairt within the Bounds of the Said Presbetry, And Recomends to Sir James Stewart His Majesties Advocat To prosecute the pretended ministers preaching att the saids meeting houses or any other where within this Kingdom not qualified according to Law and thereby not haveing the Protection of the Government And Recomends To The Lord President of Session, Lord Thesaurer Deput and Lord Aberuchill To meet with the said Lord Advocat and to advise with his Lordship upon what Episcopall ministers it will be most propper to call before his Majesties privy Councill upon a Lyble att the Lord Advocats Instance Either for Keeping meeting houses or disturbing the Church by illegall Intrudeing or unwarrantable preaching or administration of the sacraments or any other ways not allowed to them by Law.
