Recommendation To the Thesaury for payment to William Graham of Twenty pounds Sterling

Anent The Petition given in to His Grace His Majesties high Commissioner and the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill By William Graham Shewing That in winter last; he was four moneths prisoner in the Tolbooth of Edinburgh by warrand of their Lordships from thence he was ordered to Repair to Kilmarnock, and to Find Caution to Stay within Two Myles of that place, which accordingly he hes dutifully obtemperate. Therfore he humbly presumed to Represent to his Grace and their Lordships That during the tyme he was prisoner in Edinburgh, He Contracted Debts, which he is owing to the Goodman of the Tolbooth and others, which he is not able to pay. That he hes no means or fortune and That he is a Stranger in Kilmarnock The place of his Confynement, His freinds from whom he Could Expect any Supply dwelling at a great Distance so that he is deprived of the Favour which he wold have if he were amongst them, and his wife and Family staying att Edinburgh, where She is and hes been So Tender this long tyme, That She is able to come to him, nor is she able to defray the Expenses of Keeping a family there So That he must off necessity apply to his Grace and ther Lordships for ane aliment Both with Respect to what Debt he hes Contracted for Tolbooth dues meat, Drink, medicine and others during the tyme he was prisoner and under Confynement, And For his Subsistance in Tyme Comeing, So long as his Grace and their Lordships shall Think Fitt to Keep him under a Restraint And Therfore Humbly Craving to the Effect underwritten as the said Petition Bears. His Majesties high Commissioner and the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Having Considered this petition given in to them by the within William Graham prisoner att Kilmarnock, They heirby Recommend To the Lords Commissioners of his Majesties Thesaury, To Cause payment to be made to the petitioner of the Soume of Twenty pounds Sterling money, And That for Supplying his own and his families Sad Circumstances, and Towards the paying his Debts Contracted in Edinburgh during his Imprisonment there.
