Procedure
The Lords President of Session and Philiphaugh added to the Committee anent the Rable.
His Majesties high Commissioner and the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill, Doe heirby Recomend To the Committee named this day in the forenoon anent the rable which Fell out yesternight To meet the morrow at Eight in the morning, And To Consider upon what may be the Fittest means and methods for suppressing of Tumults, and Rables in tyme comeing, And particularly as to the Town of Edinburgh how apprentizes and Servants, both of merchants Tradesmen and others may be Keept in their masters houses, and not go furth therof after ane Certan house of the Night, And To Consider the Acts of Parliament made against persones, Remaining in Tavernes or being upon the Streets after Ten of the Clock att night and to Call For such of the Innkeepers in Edinburgh and their servants in whose houses and Inns any persones were Drinking the tyme of the Rable yesternight, And To Examine them who were the persones which were drinking in their houses and what drink was sent out of their houses and to what persons and places the tyme of the forsaid Rable, And particularly if any wyne or other Liquor was Sent, To the persons who were in the Steeple, or to any persons who were in the Rable And Adds the Lord President of Session and Lord Philiphaugh to the forsaid Committee and Continues the quorum to be any Three of the forsaid Committee as formerly And Appointes the magistrats of Edinburgh To cause their Constables Take up a List of the severall Lodgers, within their Respective Bounds, And to give in the said list to the Magistrats And the magistrats to give in the said List to the Committee the morrow morning.
