Committy anent pressed men

Letter from His Majesty to the Lords of his privy Councill for Embarqueing the Three Regiments for Holland, and to affix a day for making up the Regiments out of which they are made up or recruited, Read and ordained to be Recorded, And the Saids Lords nominats and appoints the Earles of Lauderdale Leven and Annandale, The Lords Forbes Advocat and Thesaurer deput, Mr Fr: Montgomry and the Lord Provost of Edinburgh To be a Committee to meet and hear and Consider all Complaints which shall be made to them anent the Souldiers to be Levyed for making up the Regiment to go for Holland or the draughts taken out of the Severall Regiments to make Up the Regiments which are to go for Holland, and to Call for and Speak with the Major Generall and other officers to know how farr they be in readines or in what caice they are for transporting the Saids Regiments now to be transported for Holland and to give orders therant, and declares any three of the forsaid Committy to be a Sufficient quorum for Speaking with the Major Generall and other officers anent the transporting the three Regiments to Holland and declares any Two of the forsaid Committy to be a Sufficient quorum for hearing and determining the Complaints which Shall be made anent the recruiting the Regiments out of which the Saids draughts were made for these which are to go abroad and Recommends to the above Quorum, to meet at Four of the Clock this day in the afternoon, and to make their Report to the Councill on Thursday next.

Warrant for delivering Some woolen Stuffs Seazed by the Tacksman of the Customs to the Duke of Queensberry etc

Sir James Stewart His Majestys Advocat having Represented to the Lords of His Majestys privy Councill, That their is a Small peice of woolen Stuff prohibited by the late act of parliament belonging to His Grace the duke of Queensberry, Sir Andrew Ramsay of Abbotshall and Sir Thomas Dalziell which was bought before the act of parliament made for prohibiteing these goods which is the Thirty one day of January last and that the Same is Seazed upon as being contrary to the said act of Parliament, The Saids Lords of His Majestys privy Councill, do heirby give order and warrant to the Tacksmen of his Majestys Customs and Forraign Excyse and to their Collectors Surveyers and waiters and other Servants under them to deliver back the Said goods So Seazed as said is, To His Grace The Duke of Queensberry The Saids Sir Andrew Ramsay and Sir Thomas Dalziell according as they have Interest therin The Said duke of Queensberry or Commissar William Alves for His Grace, and the Saids Sir Andrew Ramsay and Sir Thomas Dalziell for themselves first giving under their hands a declaration Subscryved by them bearing that to the best of their Knowledge the goods now Seazed were all bought for their use before the date of the act prohibiteing the Importations of Such goods, which is the said Thirty first of January last bypast

Letter from the King to the Councill for Embarking 3 Regiments for Holland

The Letter underwritten from the King to the Councill being Read was ordered to be Recorded, quherof the tenor Follows.
Sic Supra Scribitur William Rex
Right Trusty and Right welbeloved Cousin and Councellor, Right trusty and entirely beloved Cousin and Councellor, Right trusty and welbeloved Cousins and Councellors, Right trusty and welbeloved Councellors, and Trusty and welbeloved Councellors, Wee greet yow well, By our Letter of the Eighteenth of February last, Wee Signified to yow that we found it necessary to Send into Holland our Regiments of foot Commanded by the Lord Portmor The Lord Strathnaver and Colonel Hamilton, and that they Should be Completed by a draught out of our other Regiments and by new Levies. And the present posture of affairs, Requiring all possible dispatch we do again Recommend to yow to give orders for the Embarqueing with all dilligence of these three Regiments according as they are at present established with the draughts they are to Receave, and what men they have already Levyed, and that Such men as are necessary to make up their full Complement be in readines to folow as Soon as possibly can be, The officers of the Saids Regiments being already by our order furnished with the money that is necessary for making up their full number and for transportation, And it being So much for our Service at this Juncture, That the Regiments out of which the draught are to be taken Should be compleated with all Expedition, yow are therfor to give notice to the officers of the saids Regiments that wee do Expect they will use their outmost Endeavours to make up their Complement, In which Yow are to give them all due Encouradgement and assistance and that they may be the more Carefull in making their Levies, yow are to Fix Such a tyme as yow shall think Competent for that end, and under Such Certifications in caise of their failing as yow shall Judge reasonable and So we bid yow heartily farewell, Given at our Court at Kensington the i3th day of march 1700/1 And of our Reign the 12th year, By His Majestys Command Seafield.
