Right trustie and right uell Beloved Cousin and Counceler Right trustie and Entirely beloved Cousin and Counceler right trustie and uell beloved Cousins and Councelers Right trustie and uell beloved Councelers And trustie and well Beloved Councelers We Greet yow well Wheras we have ordered our secretaries of state for that our Kingdome to take baile of Archbald Cockburn of Langtoune younger to present himself before yow betuixt and the first day of July next It is our will and pleasure And we doe heirby authorize and Requyre yow upon his performance to Confyne him to our City of Edinburgh and seven mylls round it And to accept sufficient baill and security of him to Live peacably under our Government And to Compear before yow when called For doing wherof this shall be your warrant And so we bid yow heartily fareuell Given at our Court at Queaks the 4th day of May 1696 and of our reigne the 8th year by his Majesties Command sic subscribitur J Murray

Act Confyning Langtoun to the toune of Edinburgh

The Lords of his Majesties privie Councell Having Considered a Letter Direct from the Kings Majestie to their Lordships authorizing and requyring them upon Archbald Cockburn younger of Langtoune his appearing before the saids Lords To Confyne him and to take sufficient baile and securitie from him in the tearms underwryten They heirby ordaine the said Letter to be recorded And the said Archbald Cockburn younger of Langtoune being Called for and Having appeared The saids Lords In obedience to his Majesties Letter Doe heirby Confyne the said Archbald Cockburn to the City of Edinburgh and seven mylls round it In respect he hath Given bond and found sufficient Cautione acted in the books of privie Councell That he shall remaine uithin his said Confynment and not Goe uithout the bounds of the same and that he shall Live peacably under and with all submission to the present Government of his Majestie King William And that he shall not Act Consult nor Contrive any thing in prejudice thereof nor shall not Converss or Correspond uith any rebells And that he shall appear before the saids Lords when Called for under the penaltie of five Hundreth pounds sterling In caise he shall transgress in any pairt of the premisses And Declares the bond formerly Granted by the said Laird of Langtoune to the Lords secretaries of state at London to be Null and he to be free therof And that the same is to be Given up

Proclamation Crying doun the silver scotts Croune peices and the 40ss 20ss 10ss and 5ss scotts peices to former rates

William By the Grace of God King of Great Britaine France and Ireland Defender of the faith To […] Macers of our privie Councell messengers at armes our shirreffs in that part Conjunctlly and severally speciallie Constitut Greeting Forasmuch as by ane proclamation of the date the tuelvth day of Jully Jaj vjc nyntie five years The rate of the silver scotts Croun peice was raised to three pound six shilling and Its fractions proportionallie which rates were then Judged expedient But it being now found Just and reasonable that the saids species of money be reduced and should pass at noe Greater rate then as they uere appointed to pass by the Act of parliament Jaj vjc Eightie six ordaining the samen to be Coyned Therfor we uith advice of the Lords of our privie Councell Have thought fitt to Cry doun the saids silver Croun peice in Scotland The Fourty shilling peice the tuenty shilling peice ten shilling peice and five shilling peice respective And ordaines the same only to pass at the saids rates Our will is heirfore And we Charge yow strictly and Command That Incontinent these our Letters seen ye pass to the mercat Cross of Edinburgh and to the mercat Crosses of the remanent head burghs of the severall shires and steuartries uithin this Kingdome And ther in our name and authority by open proclamatione make Intimatione heirof That none pretend ignorance And ordaines these presents to be printed Given under our signet at Edinburgh the second day of June and of our reigne the Eight year 1696 sic subscribitur Poluarth Cancelar Queensberry Argyle Tarbat James Steuart W Anstruther A Hope James Murray Robert Sinclair

Liberation Robert Fyfe

Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privie Councell By Robert Fyffe son to the Deceast Patrick Fyfe merchand burges of Edinburgh Sheuing That the petitioner Having been by their Lordships warrand seised and Imprisoned uithin the tolbooth of Edinburgh He did remaine therin for the space of ten months till their Lordships were pleased to sett him at Libertie upon his finding sufficient Caution to Live peacably and not to remove above tuo mylls from Edinburgh which the petitioner hes accordingly done for the space of tuo years and more By which restraint not only the petitioners affairs in the Countrey are utterlie Lyke to perish But his health is mightily therby Impared and uill at Last hasten to the period of his Life except their Lordships take the petitioners condition to their serious consideration and therfore Humblie Craving their Lordships to take off the forsaid restraint from the petitioner and allow him freedome to Goe about his affairs in the Countrey He behaving himself peacably uithout disturbance of the present government as the said petition Bears The saids Lords of his Majesties privie Councell Having considered this petitione given in to them by the said Robert Fyffe They Doe heirby take off the former sentence of Confynment pronunced against the petitioner And declares him to be at Full Libertie to goe about his affairs as any others of his Majesties Leidges In respect He Hath Given Bond and found Gilbert Fyffe Late baillie of Edinburgh Cautioner for him That the petitioner shall Live peacably under and uith all submission to the present Government of his Majestie King William And that he shall not Act Consult nor Contrive any thing in prejudice therof nor Converss or Correspond with any rebells And that he shall appear before the saids Lords of privie Councell when called for under the penaltie of Fiftie pounds sterling money in caise he shall transgress in any pairt of the premisses And ordaines the petitioners former bond to be given up
