Address and2 from the toun of Glasgow and Comittee theranent

Petition the Magistrates and toun Councill of Glasgow for themselves and there Inhabitants offering to make up besydes ther fenciblemen a regiment of foot and to mantane them dureing the apprehensiones of this Invasione to March where the Councill pleases upon the termes Craved in the petitione read and remitted to the Earles of Linlithgow and Louthian the Viscount of Stair Lord Raith theasurer deput The Lords Cardross and Polwarth to Consider how the particulars craved in the petitione may be granted And in regaird the Councill are sitting late appointed them to meet to morrow at ten of the clok in the forenoon to receave in the report from this Comittee and Consider how the desyre of the petitione may be satisfyed And in the mean tyme the persones who presented the petitione by Commission from the toun were Called in and hade thanks from the boord for there Loyall and seasonable offer.

Petition from the magistrates and town council of Glasgow for themselves and their inhabitants offering to make up, besides their fencible men, a regiment of foot and to maintain them during the apprehensions of this invasion to march where the council pleases upon the terms craved in the petition, was read and remitted to the earls of Linlithgow and Lothian, the Viscount of Stair, Lord Raith, treasurer depute, Lords Cardross and Polwarth, to consider how the things craved in the petition may be granted, and in regard that the council are sitting late, appointed them to meet tomorrow at 10 o’clock in the forenoon to receive the report from this committee and consider how the desire of the petition may be satisfied, and in the meantime the persons who presented the petition by commission from the town were called in and had thanks from the board for their loyal and seasonable offer.

Recomendation for buyeing picks and Halberts

The Lords of there Majesties privie Councill doe hereby recomend to the Lords Commissioners of there majesties theasury to cause make and buy up such a quantity of picks and Halberts as can be made within this Kingdome and will be neadfull for the present exigence That the same may be Laid up in magazine and disposed of as shall be found necessarie for there majestyes service and the security and defence of the Kingdome

An address from the commissioners of supply and other heritors of the shire of Renfrew for themselves and the fencible men in that shire to be presented to their majesties, offering lives and fortunes for defence of the kingdom, their majesties’ persons and the present established government, civil and ecclesiastical, against all without distinction, subscribed by a great many of the commissioners and heritors, read and the person who presented the same being called for received the thanks of the board and the lord high chancellor in name and by command of the council signified that they would take care to transmit this address with others of the like nature presented or to be presented, to the secretaries of state to be by them communicated to their majesties.

The lords of their majesties’ privy council hereby recommend to the lords commissioners of their majesties’ treasury to furnish to the 30 men and their commander whom their lordships have ordered to quarter for deficiency of cess and excise, such arms as they shall find them to stand in need of, sufficient caution being always first found for redelivery of the said arms and for the good behaviour of the said party and there commander.

Warrand for takeing the Irons off Captain Jonston and Ensigne Dunbars Leggs

Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of there Majesties privie Councill be Captain John Johnstoun and Ensigne David Dunbar Shewing That the petitioners being most sensible of there Lordships favours and goodnes Bot that thir nyne dayes bygone they have Lyen Closs in Irons whereby they can nether put off nor on there Cloathes to the great prejudice of there health And therefore Craveing that there Lordships would be pleased to take the petitioners case to there Consideratione and that they would give order for takeing off there saids Irons As the said petitione bears The saids Lords of there privie Councill haveing Considered the above petition Given in to them be the above Captain John Johnstoun and Ensigne David Dunbar They hereby give order and warrand to the magistrats of Edinburgh and keeper of there tolbooth to cause take off the Irons off the petitioners.

Warrant for taking the irons off Captain Johnston and Ensign Dunbar’s legs

Regarding the petition given in to the lords of their majesties’ privy council by Captain John Johnston and Ensign David Dunbar, showing that the petitioners being most sensible of their lordships’ favour and goodness, but that for the last nine days they have lain close in irons, whereby they can neither put off nor on their clothes, to the great prejudice of their health, and therefore craving that their lordships would be pleased to take the petitioners’ case to their consideration and that they would give order for taking off their said irons as the said petition bears. The said lords of their privy council having considered the above petition given in to them by the above Captain John Johnston and Ensign David Dunbar, they hereby give order and warrant to the magistrates of Edinburgh and keeper of their tolbooth to take the irons off the petitioners.

The council remits the two petitions given in by Doctor McGhie and Robert Clerk, surgeon, to the former committee appointed to examine that affair of the nitric acid, poison, and files found at the castle wall, and recommends to them to examine Robert Clerk and his servants and to search in his house or shop regarding the seall found upon the head of the bottle.

Comittee for takeing the oathes of the Comissioners of the Lord Registers office.

The Lords of there Majestyes privie Councill doe hereby recomend to the Lords Hattoun Fountainhall and Enstruther to take the oathes and depositiones of the Late Comissioners for the Lord Registers office there deputes and servants If they have abstracted or Imbaizled any of the registers records or warrands belonging to the said office dureing there Comissione for exerciseing thereof And to call for the keyes of the Laigh parliament house where the saids records Lyes And upon receveing thereof to delyver the same to the Viscount of Tarbat present Lord Register or any commissionat by him for receaving thereof.

The lords of their majesties’ privy council hereby recommend to the Lords Hatton, Fountainhall and Anstruther to take the oaths and depositions of the former commissioners for the lord register’s office, their deputes and servants, if they have abstracted or embezzled any of the registers, records or warrants belonging to the said office during their commission for exercising thereof, and to call for the keys of the Laigh Parliament House where the said records lie, and upon receiving thereof to deliver the same to the Viscount of Tarbat, present lord register or any commissioned by him for receiving thereof.
