Letter from his Majestie In answer to the Councill Adress

Followes his Majesties Letter in answer to the forsaid adress
Sic Supra Scribitur William Rex
Right Trusty and right weell beloved Cousin and Councillor Right Trusty and intirely beloved Cousins and2 Councillors, Right trusty and right well beloved Cousins and Councillors Right trusty and well beloved Councillors and trusty and well beloved Councillors, Wee greet yow well; Your adress has been presented by our Secretaries; and as it is most acceptable to us to have the reiterated assurances of your Loyaltie and affection to our person and government So it is more especially now in this extraordinary Junctur when the French King has offered Such ane indignity to us and our people by owning the pretended prince of Wales as King of our dominions of Scotland England and Ireland; Wee Doe Ther fore Returne yow our hearty thanks for what yow have done upon this Occasion And wee doe assur yow of our Royall protection and concurrance in the promitting of what may be for the true intrest and advantadge of the Subjects of that our ancient kingdome. Wee have also great Satisfaction in the other dutifull and Loyall adresses which wee have received from our other Subjects which will be more particularly, Signified to them by our Secretaries by our Command; And Wee are Sensible Nothing will more effectually disappoint the bad designes of our and their enemies Then that it does appear That our Subjects are firme in their Loyalty and affection to Us; And that ther is a fixt and muttuall confidence betwixt Us and our people Which wee will take care to preserve by mantaineing and promotting all their religious and Civill concernes And not doubting of your care in what may be necessary for the Support of our Government and quiet of our people; Wee bid yow heartily farewell Given at our Court at Hamtoune Court the Eighteinth day of November i70i and of our reigne the 13th year. Adress The Councill To The King

Ane Letter from his Majestie to the Councill Signifieing his pleasure and acceptance with their adress and Satisfaction with others Sent by them to his Majestie Being Read was ordered to be recorded; And the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill appoints the Adress sent by the Lord to his majestie and his gracious Letter both of them to be printed and published Off the which Letter and adress the tenor followes.

May it Please your Majestie
Wee your Majesties most faithfull and dutifull Subjects intrusted by your Majestie to be your privy Councill and hereto Subscribing calling to mynd the great and never to be forgotten delyverance which by your Majestie under good was wrought and accomplished for Us: When our religion Liberty and Lawes our dearest concernes were upon the brink of outter ruine which inexpressible blessing; was by your Majesties wise and gracious conduct followed by a most happy Setlement both of Church and State wherby under the direction and influence of your Royall government wee have in a most Singullar maner enjoyed even in the midst of Warrs. all that peace and tranquility that could be expected or wished for from the best of Kings.
Wherfore and in deep Sense of these many and indelible obligationes, wee have have2 thought it our duty in the present Junctur of affairs both at Home and abroad to above and acknowledge the many tyes and engadgments of fidelity and gratitude Which wee Stand under, to your Majestie And Likewayes Sinceirly and Solemnly testifie and assert our unalterable resolution to defend your Majesties Royall person, as the only right full and Lawfull King of this realme To whom as our undowbted Lord and Soveraign Wee with faithfully and Confidently adhere too and Mantaine your Majesties right and title and Support your government against the pretended prince of Wales and all opposers and enemies whatsomever without exception who Shall offer in any Sort to Impugne or to disturb the Same, And wee give your Majestie all assurance, That no danger whatsoever Shall ever divert or hinder Us from prosecuting this our hearty and Steady resolution to the outtmost of our power; In which wee are also most confident to have the Cordiall and Zealous concurrence of all your Majesties good Subjects.
