Act Mr George Hay for a Stipend

Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his majesties privy Councill be Mr George Hay late Minister at Couper Shewing That the petitioner being deprived by the saids Lords from his Ministeriall function at the Church of Couper, some litle time before the Michellmiss last wherby the petitioner and his Numerous family of Childrein are now like to be exposed to no litle hardship and want, and upon consideration wherof John Master of Balmirno patron of the said Church hade already granted or at least was willing to grant the petitioner a gift of the said Micheallmiss termes Stipend Last by past provyding their Lordships would authorize the Same as his Letter to his Majesties advocat to that effect would testifie, And also Mr Mongo Gibson Minister at Abbotrule who preached Some few Sundayes betwixt the deprivatione of the petitioner and the terme of Michellmass has out of pity and Compassion to the petitioner Discharged all the twenty merks due to him by act of parliament for his said preaching as his discharge therwith produced would testifie And Therfore Humbly Supplicating to the effect eftermentioned The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Haveing Considered this petition given in to them by the above Mr George Hay late Minister at Couper with the missive Letter and Discharge mentioned therin and produced therwith, They hereby allow to the said petitioner the Stipend of the said kirk of Couper for the last half of this present Cropt and year of God Jaj vic Nyntie Eight years and preceeding And Decernes and Ordaines the said petitioner to be readily answered obeyed and payed of the said half years Stipend and proceedings by the heritors fewars wodsetters liferentars titulars tacksmen of teynds tentns possessors and others lyable in payment therof and ordaines letters of horning under the Signet of Councill on fiftein dayes and others neidfull to be direct hereon at the petitioners instance against the heritors and others forsaids Lyable in payment of the said Stipend upon production of a decreit of Locality and incase ther be non ordaines the heritors and others forsaids Lyable in payment of the said Stipend, To make payment of their respective proportiones of the Soume according as they shall be Decerned by the Judge ordinary

Act Margret Traill relict of James Scot of Bristo

Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill be Margret Traill relict of James Scot of Bristo Shewing That wher upon the petitioners application to the saids Lords Representing her destitute Condition being left by her husband with Eleven Childrein at his decease all unprovided and haveing the Joynture appointed the petitioner by her Contract incumbered with burdens not yet purged and that the petitioners sone his fathers appearand heir hade raised a Sumonds of sale of his wholl estate which had occasioned the Sequestratione therof in the hands of a factor, The saids Lords were pleased to appoint the petitioner the allowance of one thousand merks out of her husbands estate as a years aliement for her self and Childerin beginning the first termes payment thereof at Mertimass Jaj vic Nyntie Seven therwith produced would testifie, and Seing that the said proces of sale is still depending, and that the Sequestration Still Continues and her Condition in these hard times was more Straitned and afflicted and that for Certaine in the event and upon the sale all the Creditors might be cleared and as good overplus And Therfore Humbly Craveing the saids Lords would renew their former warrand for her aliement for the year ensueing at the rate and terms therin mentioned, and to order the payment therof as formerly Commenceing from Lambas Last, at which terme her last years aliement run out as the said petitione bears The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Haveing Considered this petition given in to them by the above Margret Traill, They In Respect that ther are no answers given in to this petition albeit the same were appointed to be seen and answered Do hereby Modifie and Allow the Soume of another Thousand merks to be payed to the petitioner upon her recept as another years aliement, for her seet and her Childrein and that quarterly begining the first quarter payment therof at Mertimas Last bypast for the quarter preceeding, and the other quarters payment to be at the termes of Candlmiss Whitsunday and Lambas nixt to come, And Decernes and Ordaines the tennents and possessors of the Lands of Orchyeard field and Bristo Which belonged to the petitioners deceast husband and Alexander Cuninghame wryter in Edinburgh factor forsaid appointed by the Lords of Councill and Session for uplifting the rents of the saids Lands, To make payment and satisfactione to the said petitioner of the said aliement at the termes forsaids, and ordaines Letters of horning under the signet of privy Councill on fiftein dayes and others needfull to be direct hereon in forme as effeirs.

Act of Banishment Talzeour and More

Anent The Petition given in To the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Be Thomas Talzeour and John More prisoners in the Tolbooth of Edinburgh. Shewing That where they being apprehended for having Broken up a watch house, and opened sellers and taken out goods in the Cannongate, did not only Ingenously confess the same But in the deep sense of the ill Life that they had Led, did freely confess severall other crimes of Thifts and Robberies To which they hade been accessory tho not at all accused thereof. Likeas when Conveened upon the Fifth Instant Before the Lords of Justiciary after Reading of their Indytement, They in face of Judgement and Before their Lordships, freely owned and acknowledged the same to be True, Tho their was no other probation against them. And seeing It pleased The saids Lords upon their own said free Confession and Ingenuous offer to undergo and submitt to any sentence of Banishment or transportation, To delay their Triall untill Munday next. And Therfore Humbly Craving to the Effect underwrittin as the said petition Bears The saids Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Having considered This Petition given in to them Be Thomas Talzeour and John More prisoners in the Tolbooth of Edinburgh which is subscribed by the petitioners They In Respect of their consent Doe heirby Banish both the saids prisoners unto his Majesties plantationes in America, In Respect They have Exacted themselves In the Books of privy Councill That they shall depart furth of his Majesties Dominions To his Majesties plantations in America, And That they shall never Return with in his Majesties Dominions under the pain of Death And Appoints both the saids petitioners, To Remain prisoners in the Tolbooth of Edinburgh where they now are untill they be Transported And gives order and Warrant to the Magistrats of Edinburgh To Transport the saids Two petitioners To the saids plantations in the First ships going from Leith or Glasgow to the same. Sic subscribitur Marchmont Cancellar, Argyle, Loudoun, Annandale, Northesk, Strathnaver, Carmichaell, Heu Dalrymple, John Maxwell.

Anent The Petition given in to the Lords of his majesties privy Councill By John Earl of Ruglen Generall of his majesties Mint and Sir William Denham of Westhails master thereof Shewing That William Bonar Late Clerk to his majesties mint, Having deceased some days agoe wherby their Petitioners were oblidged to stop from either out giving or Intaking any Silver, In the mean tyme the merchants and Ingivers grudge Extreamly that the money which should Releive their Credit, Especialy being the Mertimess Term should be Kept up, And Their Lordships Being in use to Appoint some person to officiat upon such occasions untill by his Majesties Commission one be Installed. And Therfore Humbly craving to the Effect underwrittin as the said petition Bears. The saids Lords of his majesties privy Councill Having Considered the above petition given in to them by John Earle of Ruglen Generall of his majesties mint and Sir Wiliam Denholm of Westerhaills master thereof The heirby nominats and appoints The above Robert Millar To officiat and Exercise the office of clerk to his Majesties Mint ay and untill his Majestie Grant Commission to any other person to be clerk of his said mint.
