Warrand To the Clerks of Councill To give ane Extract of of2 the order of Councill and of the Kings Letter anent the address from the African Company
Sir Gilbert Eliot Clerk of privy Councill acquainted their Lordships That according to their Commands to him upon Friday last he hade acquainted the Clerk of the Company Trading to Africa and the Indies, To advertise the Directors of that Company, To Call together a meeting of the Councill, And That the said Clerk Did send this day to acquaint him, That The Councill would meet this day in the forenoon, upon which he went to attend the said Councill, And having gott access acquainted them, That it is the pleasure of the Lords of privy Councill, That they or some of their Number waite on them this Afternoon, To Know his Majesties pleasure In answer To their last Address, That they desyred to see his warrand which he shewed and Rend to them, And That they Required he would leave the same with them or ane extract That they might Record it in their Books, To which he answered That There was nothing of that In his warrand or order, And Acquainted The privy Councill, That The Said Councill of the forsaid Company hade some of their number attending att the privy Councill door, The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Have allowed and heirby allowes the said Sir Gilbert Elliot To deliver to the Said Councill of the forsaid Company ane Extract of the privy Councills order and warrand, And The Laird of Thirlestoune, Sir John Shaw of Greenock, The Laird of Glenegies, Sir Patrick Scott of Ancrum, And The Laird of Jerviswood as Commissionat from the Said Councill and Company Having appeared at the Councill Barr, And having heard his Majesties Letter To the privy Councill anent the said address read in their presence, They desired a Coppie of the said Letter, The saids Lords of privy Councill Doe heirby allow their Clerks, To deliver to the saids Commissioners ane Exact Coppie Subscrived with their hands of his Majesties letter forsaid.
