Warrant for giveing up James Richardsones bond

Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill be James Richardson wryter in Edinburgh Shewing That the saids Lords by their Commission of the date the Eleventh day of May Last gave full power and warrand to the petitioner to seaze and apprehend all Irish horse Nolt and Sheep that Should happen to be Imported to this kingdome after the date of the said Commission Which was to Continue dureing the saids Lords pleasure, and now the saids Lords being pleased to recall the said Commission and Dispose of the Same in favors of another And Therfore humbly Supplicating to the effect aftermentioned The Lords of his majesties privy Councill Haveing Considered this petition given in to them be the above Thomas Richardson, They doe hereby give order to their Clerks to delyver up to the petitioner the bond granted by him at principall and George Maxwell of Munshes and George Maxwell of Carruchan as Cautioners relative to the abovementioned Commission, Which bond is dated the fourth and Eleventh dayes of June Last.

Act James Donaldson for printing the Gazett

Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill be James Donaldson Merchant in Edinburgh Shewing That the petitioner doeth humbly conceive the publishing of ane Gazett in this place Containeing ane abridgment of Foraigne newes togither with the occurrences at home may be both usefull and satisfieing to the leidges and actually hath published one or two to see how it may be Liked and so farr as he could understand the project was approven of by very many And Therfore Humbly Supplicating the saids Lords to the efect after mentioned The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill haveing Considered this petition given in to them by the above James Donaldsone, They doe hereby Grant full warrand and authority to the petitioner for publishing the above Gazette and Discharges any other persones whatsoever to pen or publish the Like under the penaltie of Forfaulting all the Coppies to the petitioner and furder payment to him of the Soume of ane hundred pounds Scots money by and attour the forsaid Confiscation and forfaulture And Recommends to the Lord high Chancelor to Nominat and appoint a particular persone to be Supervisor of the saids Gazetts before they be exposed to publict veiw printed or sold.

Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill be James Donaldson Merchant in Edinburgh Shewing That the petitioner hath fallen upon a device for printing or Stamping in a fine wryt Charracter after another maner then is Commonly used on Copper plates by raiseing the said Character on 2 ingotts of brass much after the fashion of Printing types, By which means words may be Charged according as the Subject doeth requyre, and does humbly conceive to cause ingrave and Imploy so much of the said Character as may Serve for buriall Letters may be profitable and Convenient for the leidges severall wayes for the diverse Competationes, Titular words, names of persones and places from to hence, And to which the Corpses are to be transported may be Charged to the Imployers their Satisfaction, By this device the leedges may be both Chaper and Sooner served then ordinar, Buriall Letters being oft times in haste, Besides the decencie and Ornament of a border of Skeletons Mortheads and other emblems of Mortality Which the petitioner hath so Contrived that it may be added or abstracted at pleasure These and severall other advantages to the leidges without doubt may be found in the use of the said device Which was humbly offered to the saids Lords Consideration Who have allwayes given Suitable encouradgment to what the saids Lords hade seen Convenient to the leidges as it was hoped this would be found And Therfore humbly Supplicating to the effect aftermentioned The Lords of his Majesties of privy Councill Haveing Considered this petition given in to them by the above James Donaldson They hereby allow the petitioner and his heirs and assigneyes to make use of the above device for printing or Stamping And Discharges any other persones to make use of the same for the Space of Nyntein years Commenceing from the day and date hereof without speciall Warrand from the petitioner or his heirs assigneyes or Representatives hade and obtained for that effect under the penaltie of Forfaulting all these to be made by them to the petitioner and five hundred merks of penaltie by and attour the said forfaulture.

Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councill be John Adam John Bryson John Alexander and Hary Smiths merchants in Glasgow Shewing That wher the petitioners being English traders have with much paines brought home English workmen skilled to work all hard Wair, such as pines needles Cizers Sythes Tobacco boxes and English knives For which a great quantitie of money was yearly exported out of the kingdome, and that the petitioners are to Imploy them in the Manufactory of the forsaid particulars at the Town of Glasgow, And Seing that beside the many acts of parrliament2 made for the erecting and incouradging of Manufactores The saids Lords are Specially authorized by the act of parliament Jaj vic Eightie one To declare these Manufactories that should be sett up to be such to the effect they may enjoy the priviledges Liberties and Immunities granted to Manufactories by the saids acts of parliament And Therfore humbly Supplicating the saids Lords to the effect aftermentioned, The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill Haveing Considered the above petition given in to them be the above John Adam John Brysone John Alexander and Henry Smiths merchants in Glasgow with ane instrument of intimation therof (That the saids Lords had delayed the passing of the same till the Manadgers of the Customes be acquainted therwith) Made to John Anderson of Dowhill one of the Manadgers of the Customes upon the Twentie Seventh day of December Jaj vic Nyntie Eight years The saids Lords of his majesties privy Councill Doe hereby Declare the petitioners ther above work to be sett up at Glasgow for the makeing of Pines Needles Cizers Syths, Tobbacco boxes, English knyves and all sorts of hard wair in use to be Imported from abroad to be a Manufactory, And Ordaines the Same to have and enjoy the priviledges Liberties and Immunities granted to manufactories by the above act of parliament, and that for the space of Nyntein years after the day and date hereof.
