Act Infavours of Alexander Broun

Annent The Petition given in and presented to the Lords of Her Majesties privie Councill By Alexander Broun merchant in Edinburgh Shewing That the petitioner Haveing purchased the ruinous pairts of the East and off the lucking booths and haveing obtained Judge and warrant from the Dean of Gild Court and Lykewayes ane Act and ordinance from the Magistrats and Toun Councill of Edinburgh For Rebuilding of the saids reuinous Tenements in manner therin mentioned Ther was a petition presented to the saids Lords at the Instance of John Cunynghame, Patrick Home and Mungo Buchannan wrytters to the signet For stoping the said building And now the said Petitioner Haveing purchased there Intrest, and procured there consent, For carrying on the said building as the samen herewith produced will testifie And the petitioner haveing conduced and aggreed with work men and provyded all materialls necessar For perfytteing the said building befoir November nixt That to the street may be void and red and sitting doun off the session It is necessar That the stope formerly made by their Lordships be taken off And lykewayes that the Judge and warrant granted by the Dean of Gild and Act of the Toun Councill in The Petitioners favours therannent be Ratified That he be noe furder trouble at the Instance of any persone in carrying on and compleating the said building And therfor Creaving to the effect afftermentioned As the said petition Bears The Lords of her Majesties Privie Councill Haveing considered the above petition given into them by Alexander Broun merchant in Edinburgh They heirby take off and Dischairges any stop made or given by ther Lordships To the building off the East end of the Luckenbooths As Being the Petitioners property And allowes the petitioner To carry on his building there Conforme to the Dean of Gilds Jedge, warrand and act of the Toun Councill past in the petitioners favours theranent And Lykewayes Ratifies and approves the said Jedge warrant and act In favours of the said petitioner To the effect that non may stope trouble or impede him from perfyting the said building Conforme to the saids Jedge, warrant and act And the saids Lords there present Ratification part theron in all points.

Letter from the Queen to the Councill anent the Commissioners for the Treatie of Union And Discharging Councillors to Leave the kingdom without her Majesties Licence Read and Ordered to be Recorded wherof the tenor followes.

Right trustie and right well beloved Cousin and Councillor Right trustie and intirely beloved Cousins and Councillors Right trustie and well beloved Cousins and Councillors Right trustie and well beloved Councillors; And trustie and well beloved Councillors; Wee greet yow well; Wheras In pursuance of the acts of our parliament of our kingdoms of Scotland and England: Wee have Nominat Commissioners to treat of ane Union and other matters and causes relateing to the wellfare of both realmes who are to meet at Westminster the Twentie Seventh of October nixt, and Severall of these persones Nominat by us for that our ancient Kingdome being Imployed in the places of highest trust, and whom wee expect will repair hither against that time precisely and dureing their absence it being necessary for the Support of our government and for preserveing the peace of the kingdome; That a Sufficient quorum of our Councill, and of our Thesaury and Exchequer remaine at Edinburgh and attend our Service there; Wee doe Therfore Expect and requyre That such of our Councill Thesaury and Exchequer, as are not Nominat Commissioners will give Such closs and exact attendance as may before the intire Securitie of our Government and the satisfaction of our good Subjects; And that therfore non of them who are not nominat in the forsaid Commission shall leave the kingdom dureing the Course of the forsaid treatie without Libertie obtained from Us; And this yow are to Signifie and make known to all concerned; And So Wee bid yow heartily farewell; Given at our Court at Bath the 8th September 1702. Recommendation to the thesaury to Provide Powder etc for the Castles of Edinburgh Stirling and Dumbarton and forces etc

The Lords of her Majesties privy Councill Doe heirby Recommend to the Lords of her Majesties thesaury To Cause provide, powder, armes, and other ammunition for the furnishing of the Castles and forts of Edinburgh; Stirling and Dumbarton and for the troops and Regiments raised or to be raised; And ordaines the Samen to be sent and Laid up in the saids Castles and Magazines therin for the service forsaid.

Recommendation to the Thesaury In favors of the Clerk Register and Clerks of parliament and Session there servants

The Lords of her Majesties privy Councill haveing heard the report made by the Earle of Seafeild Lord Secretary of State in name of the Committie appointed to inspect the Records in the Law parliament house for discovering of what wrytes or papers Lying their may be necessary for the present Union To be treated upon betwixt Scotland and England; The saids Lords of privy Councill Doe hereby Appoint and Ordaine the Clerks of parliament and Session, And the Lord Register who shall be for the time and his deputes to cause make a particular book of Register of all the publict wrytes papers and treaties which have been inspected by the said Committie Or of any other publict writes and treaties from the Contract of Mariage betwixt King James the Fourth of Scotland; and the eldest daughter of Henry the Seventh King of England inclusive; And Ordaines the saids Clerks and Register or his deputes to give furth Extracts out of the said Register of any or all of the writes to be Recorded therin; and to exhibit the principall Warrands and Records therof to the saids Commissioners or such of the saids wrytes as they shall call for from time to time upon a warrand to be Signed by them or under the hand of their Clerk for that effect; And Likewayes the saids Lords ordaines the saids Clerks Register and their deputs; To Exhibit and produce such of the said principall papers wrytes and treaties as shall be called for by them from time to time to be transumed, or otherwaise made use of As the saids Lords shall find necessar And the saids Lords of her majesties privy Councill Doe hereby Recommend the saids Clerks of Parliament and their Servants To the Lords of her Majesties thesaurie for appointing such a soume to be payed to them as may be a Competent allowance to them for their paines and Charges in makeing up the said Register and giveing furth such extracts therof from time to time as shall be called for by the saids Commissioners for the said Treatie of Union; and Exhibiting the warrands of the said Register to them or the saids Lords of privy Councill in maner and for the ends abovementioned.
