Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of his majesties privie Counsell be John Frazer Shewing that the petitioner while servant to Alexander Innes merchand in Edinburgh Did attend the posting of some of his books which were not intirelie brought up when the petitioner was seazed And that therby severall accompts are Left wnballanced which occasioned considerable Damndage to the said Alexander And it being but Jwst that the said Alexander Innes Should be fully cliared by the petitioner of all intromissiones had by him for or upon his accompt for the doeing wherof ther being nether convenience nor tyme in the prisone wher ther is no roume without thrie or four prisoners And that the petitioner hes alreadie given so farr Satisfaction to the presbetry that by a Subscribed consent under the presbetries Clerks hand therwith prodwced they are willing if ther Lordships think fitt to allow the petitioner the Libertie of heareing the week Dayes Sermons And ther for humblie craveing to the effect eftermentioned As the said petitione bears which being this day read and considered be the saids Lords of privie Counsell They heirby give order and warrand to the magistrats of Edinburgh and keeper of ther tolbwith to allow the petitioner to goe to church and hear the week dayes Sermones The magistrats and keepers being allwayes ansuerable for the said petitioner that he shall not make his escape And that he shall returne to prisone imediatlie efter the dissolveing of the congregatione when the sermons are ended

Comitie anent John Adair and Captain Slazer

Petitione John Adair Geographer read and haveing considered the petitione with the report mentioned them they heirby give order and warrand to the generall receaver to make payment to the petitioner of Edinburgh within soume Four Thousand five Hundered and fourtie four pund Scotts money And that out of the first and readiest of the fond of twnnage appointed be the act of parliament And nominats and appoints the Earle of Leven The Lord Jwstice clerk and Sir Archibald Mwir proveist of Edinburgh whom the Counsell adds to the said Lord Ruthven and Mr Francis Montgomerie to be a comittie for considering how the said money is to be imployed in order to prosecuteing the work of the Mapps how much of it up on what is alreadie Done and how much of it upon what is yet to be Done And recomends to the Comittie to meet at My Lord Chancellors Lodgeing and his Lordship to meet with them upon Munday the fourth of Janwary next at ten in the foirnoon And delcaires any thrie of the said Comittie with My Lord Chancellor to be a qworum

The Lords of his Majesties privie Councill Doe heirby nominat and appoint the Earle of Melvill Lord president of privie Councill The Duke of Queensberry Lord privie Seall The Earls of Argyll and Annandale The Viscount of Teviot Lord Advocat Lord Justice Clerk and Sir John Maxwell of Pollock to be a Committie to meet with the Lord Chancelor at his Lordships Lodging on Satturday nixt at nyne of the clock in the forenoon And to Consider the List made up by the Councill taken from the books wherein the persons under bale are Insert And Lykewayes to Consider the proclamation of Councill Against persons who have been in France And to Consider what of these persons under bale are to be Called for or what else is to be done with them and the persons in the forsaid proclamation And to report therein In the whole matter to the saids Lords of his Majesties privie Councill And declares any four of the said Committie with the Lord High Chancelor to be a sufficient Quorum.

Proclamation anent Old Fourteens and their halfes, Cobbs and 40 penny peices

William By the Grace of God King of great Brittaine France and Ireland defender of the faith To […] Macers of our privie Counsell messengers at arms our shireffs in that part Conjunctly and Severally specially Constitut Greeting Forasmuch as by the Act past in the Last session of our Current parliament anent the old fourteen shilling peices weighing tuo dropps and tuenty seven Grains And their halfes weighing proportionallie shall be receaved in all payments at their present Current rates And that the other old Fourteens and their halfes under the said weight shall pass in all payments at the rate of Three pounds Four shilling the unce Being a Grott for the drop Therfore and in pursuance of the said Act of parliament and for removing any difficultie that may arise about the weight we with advyce of the Lords of our privie Counsell have declared And hereby declare and ordain that the weight at which the said old Fourteens and there halfs are to pass Is the Lanerk troy weight That is the weight of the stone and its fractions Committed to the Custody of the burgh of Lanerk and Knouen to be the standard of the weight within this Kingdome according as the saids weights are or shall be marked by the Deans of gild of the royall burroues in the usuall manner And further for the better facilitating the Currency of money we with advyce forsaid declare and appoint all the peices of money Commonly called Cobbs and their fractions of whatever kynd they be to pass uithout distruction by weight That is such of them as weigh Fourteen drop or above at the rate of Fiftie six shilling and such as weigh Less at the rate of four Shilling Scotts per drop of the forsaid weight of Lanerk And Lastly we with advyce forsaid ordaine all Scotts Fourtie penny peices to pass and be Current in all payments at three shilling and six pennies per piece Certifying such as shall refuse the saids old fourteens and their halfs or the saids Cobbs and their fractions or the saids Scotts Fourtie penny peices at the rate above appointed they shall be Lyable in the double of what shall be refused to be summarly executed at the instance and for the use of the officers by all Judges ordinary without delay Our Will is Herefore and we Charge yow strictly and Command That Incontinent these our Letters seen ye pass to the mercat Cross of Edinburgh and to the mercat Crosses of the remanent head burghs of the severall shires and steuartries within this Kingdome And ther in our name and authority by open proclamation make Intimation hereof that none pretend ignorance And ordaines these presents to be printed Given under our signet at Edinburgh the threttie one day of december and of our reigne the Eight year 1696 sic subscribitur.
