Recommendation Hendry Navill Payne

Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of his Majesties privy Councell by Hendry Payne Sheuing That the petitioner hath for neer the Space of six years been detained prisoner in this Kingdome under many severe Circumstances well knouen to many of their Lordships which hath occasioned the Consumption of all he Can (during his Imprisonment) anyways raise for his Support And hath Lykeuayes forced him to run considerable soumes in debt Both to the Governour of this place and others for subsistance without whose help The petitioner must have starved That since their Lordships charitable removall of the petitioner From Dumbarton to this place about Eight months since He hath made dilligent application to the Secretaries and other great men at Court To obtaine his Liberty aither by exchange Banishment or any other way might seem Good To the King But hitherto without the Least effect That the petitioner is therby Reduced to the outmost want and despair Except their Lordships in tender Consideration of naturall justice and the honor of his Majestie take the premisses into their Christian thoughts It being Impossible Longer for the petitioner to subsist upon anything remaines of his oune except he were at Liberty In Consideration wherof The petitioner Humblie prayes That their Lordships would grant him some supply May discharge these debts he hes been forced to Contract in this Kingdome And some support for his dayly mantinence whilst his Majestie shall detaine him heir And that their Lordships would represent to him of what Litle Consequence it can be to his service To keep a poor useles old man in such a tedious Imprisonment as the said petitione bears The saids Lords of his Majesties privie Councell Having Considered the said petitione They heirby Recommend to the Lords Commissioners of his Majesties Thesaury to allow to the petitioner such ane aliment as they shall find Competent from the day and date heirof

Recomendatione to Mr Frances Montgomery and a Committie anent a meeting at Innersnait

The Lords of his majesties privie Councell Having heard the depositions and examination of John Mcfarlane merchant in Greenock about a meeting said to have been at a place called Innersnait uithin the Lands of Craigroston They heirby Recommend and give full pouer and Commission to Mr Frances Montgomery one of their Lordships oune Number to take tryall anent this matter And for that effect to examine all such persons as he shall think fitt anent the same And particularly The Laird of Luss The Tennents and possessors of the Lands of Innersnait and the Boatmen at Lochlomonth And appoints him to seize upon and apprehend such of these persons as he shall think fitt And particularly the said John Mcfarlane and Hugh Mcgregor servitor to Archbald Grhame alias Mcgrigor of Kilnconan and to send them prisoners to the tolbooth of Edinburgh and to report a particular accompt to the Lords of privy Councell of what he shall find in this matter And nominats and appoints the Lords Advocat Funtainhall and Anstruther and the Laird of Grant to be a Committie for examining Mr William Cochrane of Kilmaronock anent what he knoues in this matter And Declares any three of these to be a Sufficient Quorum And Recommends to them to meet the Morrrow at ten in the forenoon

The Bond of Associatione uith a Clause added against Invasions transcribed in Mundo upon parchment and signed by the whole Councelers who were present at this sederunt Folloues the tenor of the associatione
Wee the Lords and others of his Majesties privy Councell with the noblemen Gentlemen and others undersubscribing Considering That ther hes been a horride and detestable Conspiracy formed and Carryed on by papists and wicked and traiterous persons For assassinating his Majesties sacred persone In order to usher in and facilitat a formidable and Cruell Invasion from France To the ruine and extirpation of our religion Laws and Liberties Doe therfore heartily sincerely and solemnly profess Testifie and Declare That his present Majestie King William Is rightfull and Laufull King of this realme And we doe mutuallie promise and solemnly Engage and obleidge ourselves to stand by and assist one another to the outmost of our pouer in the support and defence of his Majesties most sacred persone and government and of the true protestant Religione against the Late King James and the pretended prince of Scotland Commonly called the pretended prince of Wales and all their adherents and against all forraign invasions or Intestine Insurrections that shall be attempted or made to disturb his Majesties right and possession And in case his Majestie Come to any violent or untymely Death (which god of his infinite mercy avert) we Doe heirby further freely and unanimously obleidge ourselves to unite, associat and stand by each other in revenging the same upon all his majesties Enemies and their adherents and in supporting and defending the successor of the Croune according to the declaration of the Estates of this Kingdome

Act Broune and other Seamen in North Queens-ferry

Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of his Majesties privie Councell by Eduard2 Broune for himself and in name and behalfe of the remanent seamen of the North Queens-ferry Shewing That wher they are requyred and prest to furnish uith others men to the Militia and present Levy of one Thousand men albeit it be Certaine that their toune of the forsaid north ferry is divyded betuixt Landmen and seamen And that the petitioners the seamen were never in use to putt out any men to Land service But have very willingly borne their burden in any demand that hath been made of seamen Lykeas of Tuenty four which is their totall Ther are at present six In his Majesties fleet And farder they have on all occasions served the government by transporting the forces both Regiments and troops and all expresses gratis as they Can Instantly verifie by many Certificats ready to be produced And therfore humbly Craving to the effect underwryten as the said petitione Bears The saids Lords of his Majesties privy Councell Having Considered the above petitione given in to them by the above Eduard Broune and others uith the Certificats mentioned therin and produced theruith They Doe heirby Declare the petitioner and other seamen in the said North Queensferry to be free from bearing any burden or proportione aither in the present Levy of one Thousand men or of the Militia raised or to be raised in this kingdome and that for the reasons and Grounds forsaids represented in the said petitione

Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of his Majesties privie Councell By Mr John Wilsone Late minister of Kirkuall Sheuing That the petitioner by their Lordships former sentence being Confyned to the Isle of Zetland and afteruards released from that sentence yet Is Commanded thither againe in May nixt as he is Informed notuithstanding of his readines to pray for King William as King And presse and practise as he aluayes hath Done subjection and obedience to his Majestie and government And therfore Humblie Craving their Lordships to releiss his Confynment and permitt him to Live at Libertie on the forsaid tearms That he with his numerous family may not be exposed to starving In a Countrey wher ther is almost a famine as the said petition bears The saids Lords of his Majesties privie Councell Having Considered this petitione given in to them by the above Mr John Wilsone They Doe heirby take off the sentence of Confynment formerly pronunced against the petitioner And Declares him quytt therof and free therfrae and heirby Banishes him out of the steuartry of Orkney and Zetland and haill bounds of the samen and out of the toune of Edinburgh Cannongate and Leith and the priviledges Liberties and suburbs of the said toune of Edinburgh And alloues him to Live duell and reside in any other place within this Kingdome Besyds the places he is heirby banished from as above
