Act Broune and other Seamen in North Queens-ferry
Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of his Majesties privie Councell by Eduard2 Broune for himself and in name and behalfe of the remanent seamen of the North Queens-ferry Shewing That wher they are requyred and prest to furnish uith others men to the Militia and present Levy of one Thousand men albeit it be Certaine that their toune of the forsaid north ferry is divyded betuixt Landmen and seamen And that the petitioners the seamen were never in use to putt out any men to Land service But have very willingly borne their burden in any demand that hath been made of seamen Lykeas of Tuenty four which is their totall Ther are at present six In his Majesties fleet And farder they have on all occasions served the government by transporting the forces both Regiments and troops and all expresses gratis as they Can Instantly verifie by many Certificats ready to be produced And therfore humbly Craving to the effect underwryten as the said petitione Bears The saids Lords of his Majesties privy Councell Having Considered the above petitione given in to them by the above Eduard Broune and others uith the Certificats mentioned therin and produced theruith They Doe heirby Declare the petitioner and other seamen in the said North Queensferry to be free from bearing any burden or proportione aither in the present Levy of one Thousand men or of the Militia raised or to be raised in this kingdome and that for the reasons and Grounds forsaids represented in the said petitione
