Warrant

Warrand anent guarding and mantaining the Recruits at Leith

Collonell John Buchan and Livetennant […] Collonell Murray who have the charge of Shipping the recruits who are to goe for Flanders compeared this day before the Lords of his majesties privie Councill and the Lord High Chancellor in name of the Councill did intimat to them That the Councill had ordered they should subsist the recruits Leying in the Castle of Edinburgh and to be transported to the Tolbooth of Leith at fyve shilling each man per diem for victualls And recomends to Sir Thomas Livingstoune Commander in Cheiff of his majesties forces within this Kingdome to cause a sufficient guard from tyme to tyme attend and watch the Tolbooth of Leith for security of the Recruits which are or shall be put in the said Tolbooth so long as the recruits shall remaine therein
