Act anent persons Landing in Orkney

The Act anent persons Landing in Orkney in armes past yesterday read over againe this day And being amended was votted approven and being transcribed was signed And the Act signed yesterday was cancelled or the subscriptions therof scored out Folloues the Act
The Lords of his Majesties privie Councill being Informed that some of other nations doe now in this tyme of warr presume to Land in Companies in armes upon the Isles of Orkney and Zetland and the adjacent Islands which my be of pernicious consequence to the peace and quiet of these pairts and to his Majesties government have therfore thought fitt to Impoure Command and Charge Lykeas they heirby Command and charge the steuart and steuart Deput of the said Isles As also the Commissioners of supplie and all other magistrats and officers within the bounds therof That in case any Number of men whither of this nation not duely authorized by the government or of any other nation shall presume to Land upon the saids Isles or any part thereof in arms That they Instantly require them to Give up their armes and give sufficient security for their good and peacable behaviour or otherwayes that they seize and secure their persons or Compell them to retire and be gone furth of the saids Islands And that if need beis they raise the Countrey upon them for that effect And farder we heirby ordaine and Command the forsaid steuart and Steuart deput and Commissioners of Supplie and all other magistrats and officers aforementioned That they be Carefull to protect all Scotts shipps barks and vessells whatsoever coming within their roads harbours or Creiks or within Scotts waters from all Insults and attacques or other Injury whatsoever from the forsaids persons And that they use their outmost Endeavours and raise the Countrey if need beis for that effect As also that they seize and secure all Boatts that shall be offered to be made use of by the forsaids persons for that effect forsaid And that on the Contrary they make use of the saids boats for the protection heirby recommended And farder we heirby require and Command all his Majesties good Subjects in the bounds forsaid to Give ther assistance in the premisses in armes or otheruayes as they shall be required and that these presents be duely execut by the persons Concerned as they will be ansuerable And that they be published uithin the bounds forsaids as use is in the Lyke cases Sic Subscribitur Poluarth Cancelar Melvill P Queensberrie Argyll Morton Lauderdale Leven Forfar John Hamilton Beilhaven Ruthven James Steuart James Murray John Lauder William Anstruther John Hamilton Hope John Maxwell Alexander Murray Robert Sinclair Thomas Hay C Campbell Archibald Mure.
