Proclamation

Proclamation for adjurning the parliament to the 26th Agust nixt

William By the Grace of God King of Great Britain France and Ireland defender of the faith To our Lyon King at arms and his brethren Heraulds macers of our privie Councell messengers at arms our shirreffs in that part Conjunctlly and severallie speciallie Constitut Greeting Forasmuchas we by our proclamation of the date the sixteenth day of March Last bypast with advice of the Lords of our privie Councill Did adjurne the Current parliament of this our antient Kingdome to the tuenty first day of Jullie next to Come And wheras the present state of our affairs doeth not requyre the meeting of our parliament so soon as the said day to which it is adjurned Therfore we uith advice of the saids Lords of our privie Councill doe Continow the said adjurnment from the said day to the Tuenty sixth day of Agust next And being And being2 desyrous to prevent the unnecessary trouble and Charges that the members of parliament may be putt to by attending the said Tuenty first day of July nixt Doe heirby uith advice forsaid adjurne our said Current parliament untill the said tuenty sixth day of Agust next ensuing the date hereof Requyring all the members of our said Parliament to attend that day in the usuall way and under the Certifications Contained in the severall acts of parliament made theranent Our Will is heirfore And we Charge yow strictly and Command That Incontinent these our Letters seen ye pass to the mercat Cross of Edinburgh and to the mercat Crosses of the remanent head burghs of the severall shires and steuartries of this our ancient Kingdome And ther by open proclamation make Intimation that our said Parliament is adjurned to the said tuenty sixth day of Agust nixt to Come And ordains these presents to be printed Given under our signet at Edinburgh the threttie day of June and of our reigne the Eight year 1696 sic subscribitur Poluarth cancelar Melvill ps Quensberry Argyll Southerland Morton Lauderdale Lothian Leven Annandale Yester Adam Cockburn John Maxuell Robert Cheisly
