Letters to the King anent Invasione etc

A draught of a Letter from the Councill to the Kings majestie anent the late intended assassination and invasione read and approven and being transcribed was signed and recomended to the Lord Chancellor to wryt a full accompt of the Councills procedure to the principall Secretarie of State follows the tenor of the Councill’s letter to the King May it please your majestie The surpryseing account we had by your majesties Last to your privy Councill of the barbarous and villanous designes against your Royall persone which God hath mercifully discovered oblidgeth most Humblie to acknowledge the goodness of that God by whose watchfull eye and almighty Hand your Majestie hath been protected and preserved and as this detestible villany hath been frustrate so lykewayes we Hope all designes of your enemies to invade your Kingdoms shall by the blessing of God upon your majesties endeavours be disappoynted In obedience to your majesties Commands we have taken all necessarie Care to put things in the best conditione we can for secureing the peace of this Kingdome whereof the Lord Chancellor will give your Secretary a more particular account Sir The manifold blessings we have enjoyed under your majesties Government oblidgeth us upon this occasione To renew the hearty and sincere offers of our Lives and fortunes to assist and mentaine your majestie and grant you a long and prosperous Reigne over us shall be the Constant prayers of may it please your majestie your majesties most humble most faithfull and most obedient subjects and servants sic subscribitur Tweeddale Cancel and as the rest of this afternoons sederunt which letter is dated the tuenty nynth day of February Jaj vjc nynty and sex years
