Recommendatione to the Thesaurie To provyde meat and shoes for Garrisons
The Lords of his majesties privie Councill doe hereby recommend to the Lords Commissioners of his majesties Thesaurie To give ordor and warrand to Leutt John Erskine in the Castle of Stirling to enquyre and make tryall where any girnels of meal are within the Shyre of Stirling whether alreadie bought up or not and particularly any Girnells of meal 2 bought by Hamilton of Orbeistoune And cause transport the same to, and Lay it up in girnells in the Castle of Stirling and ordains the Shirriff of Stirling principall or Deput To prepare and furnish baggadge horses for transporting the said meall and carrieing it to the Castle of Stirling And recomend’s to the said Lords Commissioners of his majesties Thesaurie To give ordor and warrand to 3 Captaine Livingstoune Commander of the Garisone of Dunnottar to buy and Lay up fyve Hundred bolls of meall in the Garisone of Dunnottar and To provost Duff at Inverness and William Duff of Diple to buy and Lay up fyve Hundred bolls of meall at Ruthven of Badenoch and two thousand bolls at Inverness and to call Sir John Hill Governour of Fortwilliam to buy and Lay up two thousand bolls of meall in Fortwilliam and to Major Buntyne Governour of the Castle of Dumbartoune To buy and Lay up fyve Hundred bolls meall at the Castle of Dumbartoune and to ordor money and see it furnished to each of the foresaid persons for buying up of the said quantities of meall And Recomends to the said Lords of Thesaurie to cause put up girnells in the respective places foresaid if there be not Girnells alreadie put up in them And recomends to the said Lords of Thesaurie To cause furnish and Lay up two pair of Shoes for each boll and ane boll of salt for each Chalder of the above quantities of meall to be bought and laid up in the respective places abovenamed
