Act Doctor Bennet for a Berbrieff
Anent the petition given in to the Lords of his Majesties privie Councill By William Bennet doctor of medicine Sheuing That wher the petitioner Is for the present Engaged to reside out of this Kingdome in the Cannaries Wher his Imployment and affairs Requireth his attendance And wher it may be of Great Importance to the petitioner for his benefite and advantage to have his Birth and descent from the families of severall Gentlemen declared by their Lordships in forme of a borbrife so as their Lordships are used to Grant the Lyke favour to those who produce testificats therupon for the honour of their Countrey and for the Encouragement of Country men necessarly residing abroad In order to obtaine preferment And therfore humblie Craving their Lordships in Contemptione of the premises And in respect of the testificat of the petitioner his Birth under the hands of the Lord Lindsay and severall other Gentlemen dated the tenth day of November instant and marked on the foot therof by Sir Gilbert Eliot one of their Lordships Clerks produced with the said petitione to ordaine a Borbreiffe to be expeded by the director of the Chancelory And the Great Seall appended therto In favours of the petitioner In such forme as is usuall by their Lordships in the Lyke cases as the said petitioner Bears The Saids Lords of his Majesties privie Councill having Considered this petitione given in to them by the said William Bennet doctor of medicine with the testificat mentioned therein and produced therwith They heirby Give order and warrand to the Doctors of his Majesties Chancelary to extend a Borbrieff in favours of the said Doctor William Bennet Conform to the above Certificat And to the Lord High Chancelor or his deputs Keepers of the Great Seall to append the same therto.
