Ordor to Magistrats of Glasgow anent John Gardner

The Lord Advocat haveing represented to the Councill That He had a lyne from Provost Andersone of Glasgow anent his dilligence in apprehending Patrick Bell and that the Provost had imprisoned John Gairdner a Chopkeeper in Glasgow who said there was noe plott and they were Lyars and villans that said it and damned sons of whores. The Lords of his majesties privie Councill doe Hereby give ordor and warrand to the magistrats of Glasgow to proceed and take probatione anent the said John Gairdner and upon probatione of his haveing uttered the foresaid expressions to Cause sett the said John upone ane publict pillory upon a marcat day in the forenoone with a paper upon his face containing his cryme and therafter to dismiss him from prisone The first fyning him according to his qualitie and substance.
