The magistrats of Edinburgh appoynted to send out live Spy boats

The Councill haveing sent for the Magistrats of Edinburgh compeared Baillie Boudin and Baillie Warrander to whom the Councill recomended immediatly to make readie two spy boats at Leith and to furnish the same sufficiently with a good number of seamen for Rowoars and with oars and saills and all things necessarie and presently to dispatch them and to send ane intelligent persone with each of them who understands the Shapes and buildings of Ships And to goe out and Saill the firth the one by Fyfness and the other straight foreward and to vew the ships and Vessells stering of Montrose and to bring ane particular account what the ships are and to whom they belong, from whence they came and whether they designe and what is their errand or business if they can know the same.
