The Kings Letter anent the Lord Murray

The Letter underwryten sent by his Majestie to his Councill being this day read was ordered to be recorded whereof the tenor followeth sic suprascribitur William Rex Right trusty and right welbeloved Cousin and Councillour Right trusty and intirely beloved Cousin and Councillor Right trusty and right welbeloved Cousin and Councillors Right trusty and welbeloved Councillors and trusty and welbeloved Councillors we greet you well whereas we have sufficient proofe of the Loyalty and fidelity of John Lord Murray one of our principall Secretaries of State for Scotland Therfore we have thought fitt to send him to that Kingdome to attend our Councill there in the present juncture He will give you full informatione of the Resolutions we have taken for the preservatione of the Government and your security against the designes and Conspiracies that are Laid and contryved against the same in him you may repose intire trust and Confidence And we confidently expect that ye will joyntly and unanimouslie concurr in evry thing necessarie on this occasione for our service and the security of the Kingdome and so we bid you heartily farewell Given at our court at Kensingtoune the 2d day of March 1695/6 and of our Reigne the 7th year By his majesties Command sic subscribitur James Ogilvie
