Warrant

Warrand declareing the Earle of Strathmore to be at Libertie

The Lord Murray principall Secretary of State haveing acquainted the Lords of his majesties privie Councill That He had grond to expect the Earle of Strathmore would testifie his duety and obedience to his Majestie and the Government if he had a litle tyme to conferr with him And Craved that their Lordships would be pleased To transport the Earle from the Castle of Edinburgh where he is prisoner The said Lords sent for the Earle The Lord Murray principall Secretary of State haveing gone out to the Earle Did quickly returne and acquainted them That the said Earle had willingly Sworen and Signed the oath of alleadgeance and Signed the assureance to his majestie King William and the Lord Murray delyvered the same to the Clerk in presence of the Councill whereupon the said Earle being called for The Lord high Chancellor in name of the Councill declared that the Councill were weill satisfied with the Earl’s testifieing his duety to his majestie and the Government and his so willingly swearing and signeing the alleadgeance and assureance to his majestie and the said Lords Declair’s the Earle of Strathmore to be at full Libertie as any other of his majesties good subjects and thereupon the said Earle was sett free.
