Letter from the King for adjourning the parliament
The Letter underwryten for Adjurning the parliament from the King to the privie Councill being read was ordered to be recorded wherof the tenor folloues
Sic suprascribitur William Rex
Right trustie and Right wel Beloved Councelor Right trustie and Entirely beloved Cousine and Councelor Right trustie and uell Beloved Cousins and Councelors Right trustie and uel Beloved Councelors And trustie and uel Beloved Councelors we Greet yow well wheras the present posture of our affairs does not allow of the meeting of our parliament upon the Tuenty and sixth day of Agust nixt To which it was Last adjurned we are therfore resolved to Continow the said adjurnment from the said day to the eight day of september nixt And that the members therof may not be putt to the trouble and charge of attending the said tuenty and sixth day of Agust It is our will and pleasure And ue doe heirby authorise and require yow to Issue furth a proclamation in our name ordering a further Continuance of the adjurnment of our parliament from the said day to the said Eight of September nixt And ordering all the members to attend att Edinburgh that day in the usuall way and upon the accustomed Certifications For doing quherof this shall be your warrant And so we bid yow heartily fareuell Given at our Camp at Atrie near Aith the 28 day of July and of our reigne the Eight year 1696 By his Majesties Command sic subscribitur Robert Pringle
