Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of his Majesties privie Councell By John Riddoch present prisoner in the tolbooth of Edinburgh Sheuing That near a month agoe the petitioner was seised on the high street by the Touns guaird and Immediatly Committed upon Information grounded meerly on suspicione Albeit the petitioner was formerly under one hundred pounds sterling bale for his peacable Deportment under the Government which as he alwayes hitherto keept so for the future He resolves to observe And for that effect if need beis to renue his former baile And seing that noe Crime can be Laid to the petitioners charge And that the Earle of Abboyne who is now in Toune may sustaine some nottable prejudice in his Lordships affairs by the want of his papers and other Concerns wheruith the petitioner was Intrusted If he should be Continoued Longer in prisone And Therfore Humblie Craving to the effect underwryten as the said petition bears The Saids Lords of his Majesties privie Councell Having Considered this petition given in to them by the said John Riddoch They heirby Give order and warrand to the Magistrats of Edinburgh and Keeper of their tolbooth To sett the petitioner at Libertie furth therof In respect he hath given bond and found sufficient Cautione acted in the books of privie Counsell That he shall Live peacably under and uith all submission to the present government of his Majestie King William and that he shall not Act Consult nor Contrive any thing in prejudice therof nor Converss nor Correspond uith any rebells And that he shall appear before the saids Lords of privy Councell when called for under the penalty of ane Hundreth pounds sterling In case he shall transgress in any pairt of the premisses
