Recomendatione to Provost of Edinburgh anent anent2 Spreaders of false news and ministers etc
The Lords of his majesties Privy Councill doe hereby recomend to Sir Robert Cheislie Lord Provost of Edinburgh, one of their number, to make inquirie and informe himself what persons are guiltie about spreading false news about the present invasione that was intended or expressing themselves disdainfully or disrespectfully of his majestie or the Government either in Coffie-houses publict inns or other places within the Liberties of the good toune, and what ministers doe preach in meeting houses within the said bounds and whether the be qualified in the tearms of the act of parliament or not and if they pray for his majestie or the Late King James and his pretended Queen and to report ane account of his Lordships dilligence in this matter to the Councill.
