Anent a Petitione given in to the Lords of their Majesties privy Councill be Thomas Stewart prisoner in the Tolbooth of Edinburgh Shewing That quher he being taken prisoner in the west and sent to this toune by the duke of Hamiltone with ane partie of horse guards his Grace was pleased to send four pound sterling of Current money which he at the tyme had of his oun upon him, And cause seall it in a Purse and gave it to the Captaine of the partie to be delivered be him to the saids Lords for the petitioners mantinance whill the petitioner should be tryed of the cryme laid to his charge, And now being fully perswaded that the said Captaine would not Disobey the Duke his Order in delivering the same to the saids Lords to be bestowed upon the petitioner that he therby might be preserved from starving for since the petitioner came to prisone he hade gotten nothing less nor more to save his Lyfe these dour dayes by past wherby he is in the point of starving And Therfore Humbly Craveing the saids Lords aither to give a part or all his money to the bearer in his name seing his Conditione was miserable and indigent and beggs for god sake to grant his desyre and Consider his Starving condition and prevent it as the petition bears The Lords of their majesties privy Councill Haveing Considered this petition given in to them be the above Thomas Stewart They Appoint the Clerks of Councill in whose hands the said money is to deliver to the petitioner such Current money belonging to him as they received from the Comander of the partie who brought him to this place.
