Act Lady Ardmillane for ane aliment

The Lords of there Majesties privie Councill Haveing Considered ane petitione Given in to them be Margaret Kennedie spouse to William Crawfurd younger of Ardmillan with the petitioners contract of marriadge mentioned in and produced with the said petitione whereby the petitioner is provyded to the Lyfrent of the […] Land of Pinbain and Lochtoun The Fourtie shilling land of Garinninie and the Four merk Land of Ardwell with the broad chamber upon the north syde of the Closs of Ardmillane and yaird possest be Gilbert McCall and John Mcteir And that Litle house called the Peitt House of Ardmillan with the burden of Fiftie merks to be payed to James Crawfurd elder of Ardmillan By which contract It is provyded that If the said James Crawfurd shall infeft the petitioner in Lyfrent in the soume of Fyve Hundreth pounds yearly out of the saids Lands and any other he shall acquyre In that case the petitioner is to renunce her Lyfrent Infeftment of the forsaids Lands and whereby it is also provyded that If the petitioner shall survive her husband after her renunceing her Infeftment of the saids Lands Then the said James Crawfurd is to build her a house worth Fyve Hundreth merks And Infeft her therein for her Lyfrent use The Saids Lords of there majesties privie Councill doe hereby allow to the petitioner the rents maills fermes and dueties of the forsaid Lyfrent Lands Conforme to her Contract At least to so much of the same as will extend to and shall not exceed the soume of Fyve Hundreth pounds yearly And that for her oune use and for the Mantenance Entertainment and educatione of her Children And ordaines her to be readiely ansuered obeyed and payed thereof be the tennents and possessors of the saids Lands And ordaines Letters of horning under the signet of Councill to be direct hereupon against the saids tennents and possessores of the saids Lands To be particularly condescended on in the horning for payment of there respective proportiones to be particularly condescended upon as said is At least of so much thereof as will extend to and shall not exceed the said soume of Fyve Hundreth pounds yearly Begining the first years payment at the terme of whitsonday next to come as for the year preceeding And so furth to continow yearly dureing her husbands forfaulture.

The lords of their majesty’s privy council, having considered a petition given in to them by Margaret Kennedy, spouse to William Crawford younger of Ardmillan, with the petitioner’s contract of marriage mentioned in and produced with the said petition, whereby the petitioner is provided to the liferent of the […] Land of Pinbain and Lochtoun, the forty shilling land of Garinninie and the four merk land of Ardwell with the broad chamber upon the north syde of the close of Ardmillan and yard possessed by Gilbert McCall and John McTear and that little house called the Peat House of Ardmillan with the burden of 50 merks to be paid to James Crawford elder of Ardmillan by which contract it is provided that if the said James Crawford shall infeft the petitioner in liferent in the sum of £500 yearly out of the said lands and any others he shall acquire, in that case the petitioner is to renounce her liferent infeftment of the foresaid lands and whereby it is also provided that if the petitioner shall survive her husband after her renouncing her infeftment of the said lands then the said James Crawford is to build her a house worth 500 merks and infeft her therein for her liferent use. The said lords of their majesties’ privy council hereby allow to the petitioner the rents, mails, fermes and duties of the foresaid liferent lands according to her contract, at least to so much of the same as will extend to and shall not exceed the sum of £500 yearly and that for her own use and for the maintenance, entertainment and education of her children, and they ordain her to be readily answered, obeyed and paid thereof by the tenants and possessors of the said lands, and ordain letters of horning under the signet of council to be directed hereupon against the said tenants and possessors of the said lands to be particularly agreed on in the horning for payment of their respective proportions to be particularly condescended upon as said is, at least of so much thereof as will extend to and shall not exceed the said sum of £500 yearly, beginning the first year’s payment at the term of Whitsun next to come for the year preceding, and so forth to continue yearly during her husband’s forfeiture.
