Liberation James Smith Jaylor of Dalkeith tolbooth

The Lords of there Majesties privie Councill being Informed by Sir William Lockhart there Majesties Sollicitor and Sir Patrick Murray the Committee formerly appoynted for examining James Smith late Jaylor of Dalkeith that the said James is but a simple mean persone And that he did Leave the key of the prisone of Dalkeith with aneother persone that night In which the prisoners made there escape And that he is in extream povertie and miserie And verie Lyke to dye in prisone They hereby Give order and warrand to sett the said James at Liberty furth thereof.

Liberation for James Smith, jailor of Dalkeith tolbooth

The lords of their majesties’ privy council being informed by Sir William Lockhart, their majesties’ solicitor and Sir Patrick Murray, the committee formerly appointed for examining James Smith late jailor of Dalkeith that the said James is but a simple, mean person and that he did leave the key of the prison of Dalkeith with another person that night on which the prisoners made their escape and that he is in extreme poverty and misery and very likely to die in prison. They hereby give order and warrant to set the said James at Liberty furth thereof.
