Act and Comittee anent Irving of Bonshaw

The Lords of there Majestyes privie Counsell doe hereby Give hereby Give2 order and warrand to and requyre the Comander of the guards in the Canongate In whose Custodie Edward Irving of Bonshaw is To Cause Convey the said Edward under a sufficient guard to the tolbooth of Edinburgh and delyver him to the Magistrats of Edinburgh or keeper of the said tolbooth And the saids Lords doe hereby requyre the saids Magistrats or keeper to receave the said Edward into there tolbooth and detain him Closs prisoner therein and not to suffer any persone to Converse with him or speak to him without the Counsells speciall order And If the sead Edward be Committed prisoner within the Inner roume discharges any persones to have access aither to that roume or to the outter roume which Leads thereto And Recomends to Sir Colin Campbell of Aberuchill ane of the senators of the Colledge of Justice Sir Robert Sinclair of Stevinstoun and Sir Thomas Livingstoun Comander in cheiff of there majestyes forces within this Kingdome or any tuo of them To Call for the said Edward Irving of Bonshaw and to examin him what he knowes anent the horse which wes in his stables and whereupon Mr Chisholme quarter maister to the Earle of Argylles Regiment did ryde when he wes robbed of Four Hundreth pound sterling of the money belonging to the Regiment and Recomends to the Comittee to make report to the Counsell

Act and committee concerning Irving of Bonshaw

The lords of their majesties’ privy council do hereby give order and warrant to and require the commander of the guards in the Canongate in whose custody Edward Irving of Bonshaw is to cause convey the said Edward under a sufficient guard to the tolbooth of Edinburgh and deliver him to the magistrates of Edinburgh or keeper of the said tolbooth, and the said lords do hereby require the said magistrates or keeper to receive the said Edward into their tolbooth and detain him close prisoner therein, and not to suffer any person to converse with him or speak to him without the council’s special order. And if the said Edward be committed prisoner within the inner room, discharge any persons to have access either to that room or to the outer room which leads thereto. And recommend to Sir Colin Campbell of Aberuchill, one of the senators of the college of justice, Sir Robert Sinclair of Stevenston, and Sir Thomas Livingston, commander-in-chief of their majesties’ forces within this kingdom, or any two of them, to call for the said Edward Irving of Bonshaw and to examine him what he knows concerning the horse which was in his stables and whereupon Mr Chisholm quarter-master to [Archibald Campbell] the earl of Argyll’s regiment did ride when he was robbed of four hundred pounds Sterling of the money belonging to the regiment, and recommend to the committee to make report to the council.
